Is it possible to hit a drag radial too hard with Cal Tracs?? I can't get this thing to hook up.... I've adjusted the shocks and bars to make it hit harder with no luck. I'm thinking I need to adjust it so it doesn't hit as hard??

Yes, you don't want to be to aggressive. The lower hole works best and you want to extend the shock slower then with a slick. I would recommend a good double adjustable shock. How much power are you trying to hook?

Stick or auto?

I would go bottom hole, 1/8 inch air gap on cal tracs, and what shocks do you run now?

Auto... 8" converter approx 5000rpm stall, 4.11 gears, 275-60-15 Hoosier drag radials. It will hook if I load the converter to 2000rpm but it doesn't hit the converter hard enough. Load it to 2500 and it spins.... 60 suffers regardless.... Best 60ft was 1.53 it runs 10:60 at 127mph.... I have Calvert single adjustables I haven't tried the bottom hole been all over with adjustments on the top....

With my Satellite i run lower hole with 1 flat preload as per Calvert Racing. Rancho rear shock on full tight , qa1single adjust front shock on full loose. When i tried looser rear it spun just off the line , tighter front slowed dowm .

Average 1.53 best of 1.50 sixty. I don't make your steam though

When you get it right I think you will 60 better. My best is a 1.50 on just SS springs running 10.70's and the Cal Tracs seem to usually do better then SS springs as thats why I think you have more 60 in it. Good luck this weekend. Ron

I would try lower hole, 1/8 airgap, full tight on shocks. Front needs to be loose and have 5 inches of travel, hope you have some 90/10 in it.

I agree. This is exactly how I have my car set up but have yet to test it out. Still piecing it together.

Back at that power level I was able to go 1.42 60fts on 295/65 hoosier radials. My car also liked to be flashed back then, 1200-1400 at line and it would work best that way.

I've got the 90/10's and the required 5" of travel. I've been putting more preload in it trying to hit them harder... That's why I was thinking its time to go the other way....

So what does the 1/8" gap do vs the stock 2 flats setting that calvert suggests you start with? And how do you set the 1/8" gap? With a .125 shim then pull it out?

Thanks for all the tips guys!! Went up in pressure to 20psi and set the bars in the bottom hole with 1/8" gap. The car would dead hook from there!! 60ft still isn't as fast as I think it can be but at least I have a car that hooks to play with...

Not to hyjack the post, but mine are in the top hole...should I change them? Haven't run the car yet but hoping to get up in the next 2 weeks. I'm running the MT Radial Pro's. and crappy Comp Eng drag shocks. I'm just looking for 1.52-1.55's

I've never tried 23 PSI. I usually run 17-18 PSI. I will try 23. Since I drive it to the strip(75 mi), it's easier to get the pressure back up from 23 for the ride home.

Mine are in the top hole also, rear shocks set on 9 and the the bolt just touching the spring. I am think about moving to bottom hole to see if it will com down the front end when it leaves. But it hooks good now. I am running M/T 315/60 Drag radials. 1.33 60 ft.
