Well I finally took the time to see where the vibration was coming from in my 04 3500 4x4 Cummins Ram, and it seems the rear u-joint is junk AGAIN! I put one in early last year, so it lasted just over a year. Who the heck makes a decent u-joint?

The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

I got the guaranteed for life ones at first from Advance Auto, replaced them every 6 months. Took those out, went to rock auto and got moog/precision super U joints and have been trouble/squeek free for over a year now.
This is on a slightly turned up 03 cummins 4x4

Careful not to over tighten it, you can deform the caps sometimes when you put it in.

Or your yoke is wore out trashing the U joint early?

Use Spicer "Snap Tite" sealed, non grease-able U-joints.

Why do you advocate 'non-greaseable'???

The boots on grease-able U-joints fit loose and allow dirt and water contamination.

Sealed, OEM U-joints last much longer.

I was told that by the guy who built the shaft for my CrewCab

Currently doing this and you are very right: On my '01 Ram I have the rear joint as greasable (Moog) and I have to really be on top of it to make it last (like every 1500 miles it needs grease), otherwise they pile up in a hurry. Pretty inconvenient. The front joint I replaced with a Spicer sealed and its' been in there for well over 100,000 miles.

For what it's worth, the Mopar U-Joint looks absolutely identical to the Spicer.
