I am tried of getting stranded by my MP elec. conv. sys. looking at putting in whole new EFI. Who has the best. anyone put them in. how well do they work. I am leaning towards the MSD sys. because it controls the timing too. whats the use in only going half way.
Thanks

I've been looking into FAST's self tuning EFI stuff, I'm just tired of my Demon carbs!

I have a previous generation FAST XFI (multi-port) system. It has done well for me. Their stuff seems to be well made. Newer versions have a self learning fuel curve which should cut down tuning time a bunch. Keeping mixture where it needs to be regardless of fuel type, temperature and altitude is a big benefit for me. I made a X country run last year with altitude varying from 0' to 7000' and temp from 32 to 95 with no problems.

In general the throttle body types use separate ignition and the port types control ignition also. I am sure its possible to mix and match with some makes.

I Have the MSD Atomic ready to install on my 68 Charger. http://www.atomicefi.com/Atomic_EFI_Kits.aspx
I read The question board and It looked like the right setup for me. If you read into the setup you will get the return line system. Some can get by with out it but high temps and bad gas restricts using who can.
If you reprogram the computer settings they claim you can run E85.

Me too, I just been having trouble taking my good running car apart to convert over. Plus have been pretty busy with regular life.

I wanted mine for when I take the car on vacations in higher altitudes, it's 800' here.(basically sea level imo)

If you would like to look at two of the best systems out there -- F.A.S.T makes one of the best.

The best system I have found and that will be going on my R3 block engine with aluminum Eddy heads is BigStuff3. Not cheap, but it is going to do what I want it to do with true sequential EFI using a wide band oxygen sensor and a crank trigger off the front pulley. It needs to have a fuel map made for it -- it is not the learning type, but once it is done, why would you want to change it anyway?

No matter what system you get, make sure you get the wide band oxygen sensor as you will find that the learning systems work MUCH better with this type of sensor. Also, if you can get a crank trigger off the front crank pulley compared to the reluctor in the distributor type systems; you will be MUCH happier with that as well. Not cheap; but what good stuff is?

Best of luck!!

Mark

Here's a good video on the FAST 2.0 that was done on Freiburger @ Hot Rod's Hemi Superbee. You get the idea, and they all basically do the same thing.

The EFI seems to be the easy part, figuring out a good fuel system is the hard part. Being cheap, I just put a sump kit on the stock fuel kit and mounted the pump near the outlet, but it looks a bit funny having the pump mounted so low. On my '69 B-Body, the fuel tank is not very deep, so I'm not sure how the in tank setup would fit, and work unless you add baffles or use the pricy Aeromotive pump with the foam baffle. I think the best solution might also be the most expensive, a custom stainless fuel tank with internal pump and baffles. A remote sump kit, like the Edelbrock one is a nice solution, but finding a place under the hood to mount it could be an issue, and it is also pretty expensive.

I used the Edelbrock XT EFI. It works good, but the control module could be better. They sell an upgrade ECU, but I read they are going to have a newer one than that pretty soon.
Main reason I used the XT is hood clearance, it sits lower than my performer RPM + Holley carb setup.
