Me thinks you shouldn't have put money in a 140k+ rearend or even a 9 1/4 for that matter, not that it's a bad rear I just wouldn't have put any money into it. Buy a truck 60 with a locker and good gears and modify it for your needs. Stronger and better supported by the aftermarket and in the end a much more desireable rear.
Careful, your character's showing!

I think you should turn off the caps, it makes your post harder to read.
You asked what I think.

Why did you shove a GM posi unit in your Chrysler differential?
Why did you have to YELL at everyone?
The kind of damage you described comes from either overheating (low fluid or heavy load) or improper assembly.

A fresh Spicer/ Dana trac loc unit will set you back 3-500 plus the labor. Not a great performance part, but they have been making them for 30 or so years..so not terrible. The upgrade to Dana60 will get you the same design trac loc unit in a larger format.

IT WAS FREE AND HAS DISC BRAKES GREAT UPGRADE FROM 45 YEAR OLD DRUMS
I've found that free sometimes costs more $$$.
9.25 rears are known to have pinion pre-load (crush sleeve tension lessens) and cross shaft wear problems.
Put the discs on a Dana 60.

The joke's on MRCAPS. ....................... The disc brake parts are unobtanium. The 74-75 Imperial owners are swapping them out for the drum setup.
