OK, guys and gals, here it is!
As many of you already know, Dan, aka "Performance Only", has been in the hospital for the past six weeks, suffering from an extremely bad case of pneumonia. It was so bad, one of his lungs collapsed, and has been breathing with the aid of a ventilator for weeks. It has been touch and go for quite a while, but Dan is a fighter, and the doctors say that his prognosis is improving with each passing day.
Many of you with big hearts who don't know Dan, and those who know him have asked how they can help our Mopar brother. Instead of just accepting donations, it was Dan's idea to give back, by leveraging his expertise as a master engine guru to build a 500"+ big block wedge engine for one lucky winner that helped him in his time of need. Here is what the lucky winner will get: One big block Mopar wedge *507” street/strip pump gas combination
Specs as follows:
Compression Ratio: 10.5:1 Stock RB block: Fully prepped, squared, decked, ARP studs, sonic checked, align honed Camshaft: Hydraulic Roller, custom grind Lifters: Morel Hydraulic roller Pistons: Diamond forged Piston rings: Total Seal CR series moly rings Connecting Rods: Molnar Technologies Crankshaft: Molnar Technologies or other TBA,forged Cylinder Head: New aluminum, 84 cc chamber, with Isky valve springs Rocker Arms: Hughes Engines, aluminum 1.5 ratio with steel Hughes hold down kit Pushrods: Manton or Trend Performance Bearings: Clevite rods and mains, Durabond cam bearings Aluminum Intake manifold, TBA Oil Pan: 7 qt performance style pan with pick up Oil pump: Melling H series oil pump Break in: Engine will be broken in, and has the option to be dynoed, or may be dynoed if we have a shop stepping up to do so.
* Due to the nature of this engine build, some minor adjustments may be made, such as , engine could end up at either 500”, up to 512”. The good will of the manufacters and shops helping with the parts supply , can or may dictate the final crank and engine size. Engine will be intake to pan, carb not included. Other options and changes may be made by discussing the final build with Dan Costello.
There have been many folks stepping up to help assist with this project, and should be appropriately noted: Competition Wedge Engines, Marsh Performance, Molnar Technologies, Diamond Racing Pistons, Hughes Engines, Clevite bearings, Total Seal Piston Rings, FA Products of New York, Morel Lifters, as well as several others to be added and mentioned shortly. We will make a special post and follow up recognizing them individually. Without them, this raffle, and help for one of our Mopar brothers would be impossible.

I would be darned careful mentioning " raffle " on Paypal. DO NOT write raffle in your message.......trust me on this. That being said , and despite my small block tendencies , deal me in. paypal incoming.

I'll have the wife enter one tomorrow and another a week or so later.. I'm assuming these will be regular raffle type tickets with 2 tickets with the number like the person would keep one... thats the reason for the time between tickets(I dont want multiple numbers back to back)... thats just me..... Get well Dan

We will be filling the oil pan with equal sized pieces of paper with names on them, not tickets with numbers. That is why we require the full name of the entrant.
Got ya

Speaking for myself, I don't have a PP account and I never will. An alternate method to buy a ticket might elicit more donations.
In lieu of that, is there a bank account set up to help with Dan's expenses?
Best wishes and get well, Dan.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong about this, but I thought it was possible to send money to a paypal account without having to create your own paypal account. Paypal is the way we are collecting the $50.00 entry for the engine raffle. If you have a personal gripe against paypal, for whatever reason, I don't know what to tell you. I don't want to create multiple ways of people sending money for entries, because it will become too much for me to manage. I can't keep changing the rules, just to make someone happy. For those of you who just want to send a donation to Dan, I will try to find out Dan's mailing address, and you can send it through the mail.

Would it be too much to ask to make sure the crank is drilled for a stick shift application Gus
Why? I don't run a four speed.

I'll be in. Just need to wait until Wed. Payday. Dan has always given so much to the board. Never forget the first time I met met him. In Jimmy's trailer at the Nats, measuring his first Hemi for the Dart for Firecore Wires. Actually, first time I met Jimmy as well. Truly great guy.

I've done it for eBay purchases, but don't know how it can be done in this situation.
Nothing on PayPal's web site seems to cover this, other than providing this option for business accounts where customers are making online purchases.
I'm ready to purchase a couple of tickets, but don't know exactly how to do it under the circumstances.

Thanks Dave, I too fall into the no PP crowd but would be glad to snail mail a couple of entries.
