I have a chassis car that has mustang 2 front suspension on it and I was wanting to try and adjust the car's roll out. I have been having trouble with red lighting and was wanting to try off setting the front tires a bit. I haven't tried adjusting anything yet I wanted to ask somebody that has some experience with this before I messed with it. I have tried adjusting my trans brake button all the way out, letting some air out of the tires and lowering the launch rpm. I am still having trouble with red lights.. Any help/advice would be much appreciated

I would try taller front tires and see if that helps first. The mod your talking about would require the lower and upper control arm locations to be moved forward or rearward. Have you tried a blinder? I'm assuming we are talking .500 full tree. How bad are the red lights?

Like Doug said... if you want to stagger the front
end you have to cut that whole assm off the chassis
and move it.. normally the right side is moved rearward
to keep it in the lights longer.. mine is moved 3/4"

There are.multiple ways to try n offset roll out on any car ,
Most time , the most simplest ways are the best,
larger tire been mention. The best is air control of the front tires .
One.can also adjust, or change the front spring rates, the front chassie coils.springs to allow the spring to allow.more.travel time extending before lifting the tire out of.the.beams,
Actual staggering the car as shallow as possible allowing the.beam to.see all of.the tire instead of less tire.
Before I would ever cut n stagger the front of any front end

My light have been fairly consistent from -.06 red to -.1 red.. I have let the front tires down to 25 pounds adjusted the launch rpm from 4400 down to 3600 and I believe the tires are 28's I would have to double check that. I used a footbrake car for the last couple years and I always left when the bottom yellow comes on but when I do that now all I see is red lol. Thanks for the input about the staggering the front tires I have zero interest in cutting the front stub up and adjusting hopefully something else will work.

Thanks guys

Trying to slow down the reaction time down a tenth is probably going to require a combonation of a lot of these tricks. Something else that hasn't been mentioned is working with the rear of the car (suspension, shocks, ect) and lowering rear tire air pressure. Good luck.

The car doesn't seem to transfer very well to me so maybe that could contribute some? Here is a video of a pass I made last year. Im not sure it will work but ill try.

http://youtu.be/Gw7mN8X_JIA

This is a pass I made when I was just trying to get used to the car so I try to stage a little more careful than this lol.

I assume this is a ladder bar car........looks like one the way it leaves. The rear shocks seem soft and the fronts way stiff. Probably solve your issues with some shock adjustments. Tighten the rear so it doesn't throw the housing down so hard and loosen the front so it doesn't snatch the tires straight out of the beams. Car is not smooth at all on the hit.

As for staggering the front.......it is pretty easy on a strut car and can also be done on an a-arm car and not have to cut any brackets. By pulling one side up a 1/4 and the other side back a 1/4, you have a 1/2" stagger and won't have to cut anything to do it. Assuming all the arms have heim ends for adjustment. If some type non adjustable control arms.....that presents a problem

Since i guess its not a foot break class just put in a delay box, leave off top lite or if you like the bottom make sure you can't see the second and just dial it for each track. Never have to keep adjusting the chassis or tires or anything but the box. Once you start going some rounds and getting in the money then worry about going faster if you desire.

Last year before we had the shallower pan we had to raise the front suspension of the car a bit so that the oil pan had some clearance. We did it by adjusting the adjusters on the coil springs. Would that cause this problem?

Ok I will definitely lower that back down. Is there a way to know how far to go or just a test and try deal?

Thanks guys when it comes to this race suspension I have little to no idea!

I know they are coil overs but i am not sure on the travel they were on the car when we got it.

It also has cables that limit the front end travel. So I need to check that also.

So you have a coil over shock... lower the front down
and loosen the limiters till you have problems

The first thing I saw in the vid was the right front tire pop out of the beams on the hit. Get some travel into the front end, soften the front shocks and see what happens. You need three inch or more rise I would think. If you still can't keep the front in the beams and roll through for max roll out, then if possible raise the ladder bar front hole as far as you can to change the pitch rotation of the car. If you go above what they call a neutral line with the front ladderbar hole, it pushes the nose down for an instant before allowing it to rise. I could change mine by .02 this way. Hopefully it will work for you like it did for me.

What ETs are you running? At some point it gets really hard to leave off a last yellow, the car is just plain too fast. One idea would be a VERY loose converter and a low rpm two step.
