Its a 360

What are your thoughts on tapping the rear of the intake for heater ports, instead of off the intake and water pump?

Thanks

I just wondered if there any positives for doing it, or if it would screw something up.

The water leaving the intake manifold will be hottor than at the rear of the motor, the heads do most of the heating on the coolant

Could screw up the flow as in no flow/no heat.

No seriously, the flow through the heater core is quite a distance. So the best route is from the water pumps high and low pressure sides at the pump for best flow to the heater core.

But there can be alternate routes, as long as at least one side of the feeds or returns goes to the water pump.

I believe the positive flow from the water pump goes into the upper intake on the SB, so you could feed the heater core from that at the back and send the return from the heater core back to the water pump and it should work fine, IMO

But ,Im going to ask, Who runs a SB anymore

You need one in the front intake crossover , the water will be coming OUT of those 2 locations , you would have no water flow thru the heater core.

I did it to my 408, I was told it evens the flow out as theres no dead head point at the back of the intake. Didnt bother my heater at all.

Pluss it looks cool!!

I figured if the NASCRAP boys do it on a 500 MILE 700+ HP at 8K all day long, I figured it must do something as their cooling setups are similar.
