Check the O2 sensor. We had a few at work with no codes but the O2 would wack out.Created a lot of problems. You have to read live data to see what its doing.Just reading codes tells you very little.Rocky

All 96s are OBD2.We had one also that had wiring problems.Jeeps were known for wiring problesm.Especially the tail park lights.Rocky

Before I retired in 2011 I would work on these problems alot and this is one I would be using the Co-Pilot on as it can record the electronics when it acts up. Either the dealer can drive it with it on or they can let you take it as you just have to press a button when it acts up. This tool works awesome on problems like yours when they wont act up in the shop. Most of my years were with Dodge and I do remember on the Dodge trucks we had trouble with the dist (cam sensor) pick-up wires rubbing on the back of the drivers valve cover and shorting at times. I dont remember if the Jeep harness runs the same but you may want to check it. If you know a good Mopar tech you might want to ask him if they can use the Co-pilot on it as it usually takes any guess out of it. Ron

stalling problem is intermittent.Normally runs great.I have put 2 new crankshaft sensors on it.Still does it.
OEM or aftermarket sensors? Just went something similar on a 01 Dak with a 3.9. Same basic setup. 2 different CKP sensors from the aftermarket...finally put a Chrysler part in it and problem solved.

If you are installing Brand X sensors instead of mopar ones, you are just installing problem after problem. Our Dealership will NOT use an after-market sensor...PERIOD.
