I would guess this has the plate at the bottom of the intake. known for leaking.

possibly bad leak there not letting it run?

look through the tb into the bottom with flash light see if it has a lot of oil and burned crud.

Check the O2 sensor. We had a few at work with no codes but the O2 would wack out.Created a lot of problems. You have to read live data to see what its doing.Just reading codes tells you very little.Rocky

odb I or II?

is it completly random?
or have you just not figured out a pattern?

only when cold? only when warmed up?
stop and go traffic?
only on the highway stead state?

if you can reproduce it and you aren't getting inspected anytime soon, if it is the o2 sensor as sugguested, you could unplug it. the first one, not the second and see if it clears up.

it should put the jeep in a limp mode and richen it up so don't run it like that for long.

I've experienced jeep wiring problems as well.
When it's running good move and flex the wires going to the cps and tb. The cps wire was a real problem for several batches of jeeps.
If that does not induce the problem expand to the other sensors. Pay particular attention where wires are routed and make bends and come out of harness or looms.
P.S. also check the lead going to the dist.

Before I retired in 2011 I would work on these problems alot and this is one I would be using the Co-Pilot on as it can record the electronics when it acts up. Either the dealer can drive it with it on or they can let you take it as you just have to press a button when it acts up. This tool works awesome on problems like yours when they wont act up in the shop. Most of my years were with Dodge and I do remember on the Dodge trucks we had trouble with the dist (cam sensor) pick-up wires rubbing on the back of the drivers valve cover and shorting at times. I dont remember if the Jeep harness runs the same but you may want to check it. If you know a good Mopar tech you might want to ask him if they can use the Co-pilot on it as it usually takes any guess out of it. Ron

replace the iac, the plastic threads get all messed up and cleaning them makes it worse. Also what are the iac counts?

The IAC is not going make it buck & jerk going down the road as I thought he said. Course it will make it stall when off the gas like a dirty throttle body but his symtoms dont sound like that to me unless I missunderstood him. Ron

OEM or aftermarket sensors? Just went something similar on a 01 Dak with a 3.9. Same basic setup. 2 different CKP sensors from the aftermarket...finally put a Chrysler part in it and problem solved.

One thing I would do is change the fuel filter by the back wheel on drivers side.

If you are installing Brand X sensors instead of mopar ones, you are just installing problem after problem. Our Dealership will NOT use an after-market sensor...PERIOD.
