I'm trying to find cheap bigger wheels- new or used, aftermarket or some OEM - to put on my '67 Coronet wagon. I'd like to stick with 16 or 17 inch wheels to retain some sidewall for comfort. I've considered some Mustang or Panther wheels but I'm not sure how they work clearance/offset-wise on my car. Most Ford wheels I've seen on A-bodies don't have enough negative offset to not look out of place on a bigger car like mine, IMO. Same thing with a lot of general aftermarket wheels and even later-model OE Charger/Challenger wheels - too much offset, no rim lip, looks goofy (I've seen B-bodies with the lower-end Challenger blocky five spokes and it doesn't do it for me at all). This is what my car looks like now on 15s with small hubcaps - I really dig how it looks, but 215/75s... I like upsized Torq Thrust-type wheels like this... but I also don't want to run straight to Torq Thrusts since everyone and their dog goes for that style at some point. So my goals are: cheap (around $1000 for a set tops), works with the body style, decent street tire selection. I'm asking because so far I've only been able to figure out what DOESN'T look good, and this particular forum is more open-minded than ye olde Mopar Or No Car hardliners :P What do you think I should consider? If hub bores or brake rotors need to be trimmed some to fit that's NBD.

I think the American Racing Salt Flat rims would look really good on that car, but they run about $330 each. These are 17" steel wheels under $200 each. With primer, ready to paint. Paint it white, put a baby moon cap on it and go. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/wvi-14-7712458/overview/17x7 4.625 in backspacing, should fit your car fine. 225/60-17 are plentiful, fit on a 7" wheel, and are 27.6" tall (about same height as current tire). They have plenty of sidewall and would look good on the wagon. If you want a little less sidewall, the 225s are available in 55, 50, and 45 series. Do you know the current wheel size and backspacing? I believe they're 15x6s, I only know that they're off of some kind of Dodge truck. They have 3 lobes around the hubcap ring and a smooth inner lug/hub area if that places them at all.
I'm probably going to run at least 235s or 235s/245s at a minimum. 215s are too narrow for a car that weighs two tons that'll be driven the way I want to drive it :P
I do really like those Salt Flat wheels. I've considered them off and on - I'm not sure if they'd still look good keyed white to the car or left gray either way. They do look pretty fitting on 60s cars in 16 inch size:
I also have found a few sets of 2405-style newer wheels for sale. I can't find any recent Mopar wheels on older Mopars (in general) - do any styles from any late 2000s cars look good?

Go to www.mhtwheels.com and check out the US Mags offerings. There are some nice wheels at decent prices. I've dealt with MHT through work for several years. They have good stuff and fair prices.

A friend just pointed me to Year One's upsized Rallye wheels: https://www.yearone.com/Product/wheels/mrw178slvsWhat do you guys think? I always thought standard-sized ones wouldn't look quite right on my car but bigger ones might look pretty cool.

I really like the painted wheel/poverty cap look. have you considered having 16 or 17 inch rims mated to your existing centers? can't be that expensive and would look killer.
I'd like to be able to keep my current caps if I stay with steelies. The upsized cop rims out there look cool on the blockier 80s cars but I don't like the bigger caps on older Mopars. I really would like to like those upsized Wheel Vintiques smoothies, but I think their look is better suited to kind of greaser/street rod style cars.
If I could find four-slot 17 inch steelies that took my caps that'd be perfect. I could always paint the outer edge of the rim black if they looked too big.

Why are you wanting bigger rims? I went 17s on one of my wagons and after driving it a summer I wasn't so sure anymore. I live in an urban area with lots of street car tracks, pot holes, bike riders, etc... felt them all hard. On my next wagon I stayed with 15" rims looks better feels better and the car handles great with the help of a bunch of firm feel parts and the 15x7 and 15x8 wheels 245/60,15 front and 275/60,15 rear. Tire choices - I'm not autocrossing the thing but I want it to handle. 15 inch tires tall enough for a car this big don't come in very good choices for that. PLus the giant sidewalls don't help much.

But I want bigger diameter wheels, not just bigger 15s.

I have a set of 17" Stockton steelies on my wagon, 17x8 with 245/45/17 in front, and 17x10 with 315/35/17 in back. They will take the same hubcap your wagon currently has on it. I've been thinking about making a change, if you're interested let me know. Mine handles fantastic with bigger t-bars and sway bars f/r. 25mph ramps at 45-50, it just hunkers down and goes.

I have JD Wheels, I had them price matched through jegs for $130 a piece for the 17x7s on the front, the 18x8s where $150 each.
