anyone have an idea how big a tire I can put on the back of my 62 Savoy with out modifing the suspension???
I was looking at the Coker 1000-15 DOT drag tire or the 850-15 one. I kinda wanted the retro drag car look. Any opinions out there???? will they fit???

I hope this will help. On my '62's I have 255/70-15's. The specs are: 8.3" tread, 10.5" cross section and 29.1" high. They are mounted on 7" standard back-spaced wheels. They are within 1/4" of the springs on the inside and about the same both on the inside and outside of the wheel house. I guess you could conclude that anything less than 10.5" of cross section width would fit. Again, I hope this helps.

Not sure if my 63 is the same but I have Hoosier QTP 29 x 11.5 tires in my stock wheelwell's on my 63 and it's the biggest I can fit in there. My springs are not moved and I have about 1/2" on the inside and outside of the tires. The tread is actually only about 10.5 as the 11.5 stands for the tire width. I could actually fit a 30" tall I believe as I have room to go taller but not wider. Ron

Looks good Ron,It should be the same if not close. With Bias ply tires its hard to figure out what is what in the numbers from radials.
I think I'll go with the Coker 850-15 as it is the same size as you have. but they are 30" tall
