I understand what he is saying about the hose out the back but I use the catch can up front I have NEVER filled that can where it would dump fluid on the track... I do check it regularly but its only had a few drops in it

I think the most important thing is to have the outlet of the overflow hose (not the tank drain), be it in front or out back, approximately on the centerline of the vehicle and at a location that track personnel can see it if there is overflow coming out. Keeps the spill (if any) away from your tires!
Yeah.. my outlet hose is tie rapped to the trans coolant line almost dead center in the car at the radiator.. so if it were leaking the track guy could see it EASILY... I use to use a Summit plastic catch tank but later I built a nice alum one

Good safe options for sure. But I've gotta think that the odds of a catch-can overflow ever coming into play are far less than the odds of a busted radiator hose, or a rod coming through the side of your block. (Guess thats what diapers are for....)

most rules and common sense are for safety for you. It all depends on how you perceive it. I use no hose clamps, no plastic bottles, no tie wraps and a belly pan in case of a disaster. If something happens to one of my cars or one of my customers I know I did everything possible to make sure that guy and his car comes home.

Calm down bob.....lol it's only a rad overflow can !
Mine is mounted under the inner fender behind the headlight. Never seems to have anything in it ? In the rear is safest....any fluid spilled will behind your rear tires...but then it's in front of the next racer coming down the track....lmao !
....BAD A$$ STREET CAR.....

I have never heard of anyone having their catch can in the trunk. Does the NHRA rulebook say anything about it being in the trunk ? Ron
All it says is that you are required to have one and the size of it... you can put it anywhere
