I'm looking for any production numbers regarding how many '71 road runners were export models ('I' for international on fender tag and an 'E' before the model number sequence)

There were 554 '71 Road Runners for CANADA = "C" (most, but not all are "Bxxxxx" VONs) & EXPORT = "I" (most, but not all are "Exxxxx" VONs) combined. VS. 13664 US spec..

There's a theory about "E3xxxx" cars never leaving the US (probably ordered by US servicemen returning stateside). What have you found?

As far as I know , Y09 export totals do not exist . For the early 70's , the number could run as high as 5 % on certain models .
Most as mentioned were just ordered from servicemen overseas so they would be waiting upon their return . LOTS of Export cars during the Viet Nam era because of this.
At one small Mopar show alone, I counted 7 out of 85 cars present were Y09 .

I'm asking the question based on this info given in a for sale ad for a '71 road runner:

"Fender tag. E55 D21 RM23N1Gxxxxxx FE5 M2X9 TX9 127 E33317 FE5 1 B11 M21 N41 N42"

It doesn't mentioned Y09 though, maybe it's an 'export' car that never left the U.S.?

Also noticed there is probaby a typo in that fender tag info as far as engine (E55) and vin (N code)

Y09 wasn't used in 1971. They used 'I' which in the numbers you posted is the '1'.

I saw my mistake about Y09 after I posted. Yes, I figured that the '1' is an I based on the E on the order number. Seems to be somewhat rare based on the fender tag info, but aren't they all

That's my old car, and it is an original 383 4spd. I didn't have much history on the car, but the guy I bought it from acquired it from a buddy of his who was a serviceman stationed in Germany. Whether it was actually exported there new or not I have no idea, but it was there at some point in time before 1990.

I just generally use Y05 YO7 YO9 in conversation ,it's just easier that way , of course we all know U, C and I was used in 71 on fender tags . I find that generally when you say "I" people don't know what
your refering to . To say Y09 export specs just rolls off the tongue much better than saying it's coded I for international .
But that's just me .
