If you call and order, they will tell you May delivery. Based on information I got from various MP dealers, there are none in the system. I had my credit card out and ready to order, but neither Jegs nor Summit could commit to a ship date. The guy at Summit even called MP to try to get a confirmed date. So though they show up on the web sites, they are not in stock and subject to availability like everyone else.

If it is a race only car maybe. A 10 second street car impresses me more than a high 8 second race car.

Visually, there is no comparison...and everyone knows it.

Performance wise, if you build a HEMI like a wedge, it will run like a wedge. The opposed valve layout is a COMPLETELY different animal and must be built to reflect those differences.....especially in the intake/cam/headers department.

If you have nothing to start with and decide on a conventional HEMI deal, don't waste your time with any cylinder head other than a Stage V and if N/A power is the goal, step right up to the Millennium version.

Doing it correctly the 1st time will save money and aggravation over the long haul. There are a lot of good shops out there that build excellent engines, but there are very few who specialize in getting the most out of HEMI engines. Dealing with the people who are most familiar with a particular combination is simple common sense.

If saving the last dollar is important and what you have to look at every time you pop the hood isn't, there are plenty of good wedge combinations to consider.

Makes total sense to me. Two completely different animals.

probably been 10+ years since I've seen Gregs car. Help the boy out and find him his Pachyderm!!

When I see guys spending crazy money on their Hemi's and then I watch a good Friend go out and build an Edelbrock headed 500 cubic inch wedge (stock block) with a solid cam and put it in a 2500 plus pound duster and crank off 8.70's-8.90's you couldn't GIVE me a hemi. Well you could give me one but it would be for sale that same day.

1970 Duster
Edelbrock headed 408
5.984@112.52
422 Indy headed small block
5.982@112.56 mph
9.42@138.27

Livin and lovin life one day at a time

For what it's worth...If you're going to take the dive and build a Hemi, build it as big as your budget will allow. A 572 or a 605 can make stupid torque and hp at moderate rpm's. My head limited 605 runs on 89.5 octane fuel and still makes over 850hp at under 5800rpm. torque is 818ftlbs. at 4818rpm. Also the rotating assembly is really light for a Hemi, the pistons are only 600+ grams.
Wwith more cylinder head and compression it could eeasily be well north of 950hp.Dave
