Does anyone have access to an original 1965 Chrysler altered wheelbase factory car? I need some measurements.
1) At the aft end of the new front frame rails: What is the distance that the rails extend below the torsion bar cross member?
2) At the forward end of the new front frame rails: If a bar is placed across the bottom side of the rails from one side to the other, what is gap between the bar and the bottom of the lower radiator support?
3) At the aft end of the front frame rails there is a ½” bolt hole in the side of the rail about 2” from the end. What is the exact location of that bolt hole?
4) What is the distance from the bottom of the torsion bar cross member to the center line of the torsion bar.

I beleive the altered wheelbase cars evolve from a little axle movement forward to more, several times

I have gathered up most all the information there is out there, except for the original plans. Most recent altered wheelbase cars are not done like the factory cars. I'm trying to duplicate a factory car. As I was fitting up the new front rails some of my measurement didn't seem right, so I need the answers to my question before I begin welding.

There is no set science, these cars were built with the plus/minus factor and tweaked to try to make things fit and work.Sometimes they did and sometime they didn't and some took a lot of refining to get them to go down the track.Find (if you can)two original (Amblewagon) units and you will see a lot of varaiations between them, similar to the Hurst Darts and Cudas. We are talking Chrysler and their contractors, these we hand assembled not done on a exacting scienced production line. Some of the originals were bodys proped on concrete blocks while the metamorphasising was being done. Some were half finished and fine tuned by Alexander Bros/Branister as well as the racers who recieved them.

Years ago there was a guy in Seattle that was building new versions of these altered wheelbase early B-bodies. I parked two cars side by side at our Spring Roundup in 2001. One was a clean old stocker and one was a AWB piece with a big block. I was just a guy on the parking crew then, I don't know if they drove or were trailerd in. I think the guy was named Rich Lefebre (sp?)and some time ago HOT ROD built an AWB Nova and raced one of Rich's creations. He may be still around, but I have not seen the car since.
