I removed the sock in my tank and use a 3/8 sending unit and a Fram cartrige type filter before my electric fuel pump and then have the metal inline filter at the carb. It runs 10.70's like that with no sign of any fuel starvation. I feel safer with a filter by my carb to make sure no grud can get in the carb even though the filter before the pump should catch everything. You can see the inline filter in this pic. Ron
That "fram" filter is designed to go after the pump, Ron. It's a 5 micron filter!!, no wonder you have had vapor lock problems. Just saying and trying to help. Your killing your fuel pump sucking through a 5 micron filter, crazy.

Might want to check for sure the micron rating of it. I'll bet you it's 10 microns which is no good for before the pump. Every canister fram look a like that I saw was 10 microns. I have seen plenty of people run them too before the pump, don't make it right. I did too, many years ago in the 80s. My car left me stranded too many times when I was running a electric pump, long before ethanol. I figured out fuel flow when I went drag racing, have to, to go fast. Kinsler was my mentor and taught me all about fuel systems. I just try to share what I learned.

There are many choices today. I like steel housing filters for the street, as large as I can fit. The Fram deal at 5 or so microns is as fine as you can get and is steel and has a larger housing than most. Robbmc above suggested some filters, you should check them out. Kinsler always suggested there filters which were larger than most other's with more square inches of removable stainless screen inside, larger is better I believe. Both my street cars are using a factory vapor separator for filters with no problems.

Found it, Yes I have run that filter and see no problem with it. Should do the job just fine.
