Well it's a s&w bar with a custom rear tube and extensions. They sent some mounts with it and thought this was a better way to mount it in my car.

Talked to John Holt about this while he's been doing our 4 link and he doesn't think there absolutely necessary. Depends on the setup .
I wont build a 4-link car without the anti roll bar but in my opinion a ladder bar doesnt need them unless its a wimpy one and its flexing

I raced without one on an in board 4-link for years. The reason I mention in board is the space between brackets was narrow for the tire width I had. The wider the bracket centers the more stable the car should be.
My car did picture perfect wheel stands and could maintain center of track for a full 1/8 mile wheel stand. So do you need one. HECK NO.
Now do I have one now. Yes. I was at Rockingham running KOS. The track was horrible. I was running Tony Marculwics(surely misspelled sorry Tony) for a two out of three. It was the last round and we were tied. I got on the pedal late in the run and the car picked the left front up pretty high and did not bring it down until the laundry was out. The amount of preload in the fourlink was perfect for launches. But, could not handle the rocking action of a late hit with a lot of nitrous.
I installed an ART with the bearings and all. Ran it for years. Last year was under the car and realized the link to the housing had broken off. It had been broken long enough to have rusted pretty bad and had witness marks where it had been striking the rear end housing. I had not even noticed it. After welding it back. Resetting preload and putting the anti roll to neutral I saw no difference in 60 ft.
4-link cars at our level can do without. I know several comp cars that have held records in recent years that also do not have them. I run it for down track safety in case I start writing checks I can't cash on the track.

I won't go as far as to say they are not needed in some cases BUT they are a real help to those that either lack suspension experience or are afraid to make the changes to track tune their cars. Four links scare a lot of racers.
I ran my 4-link for about 1/2 a season... then put it on... my car did pick up in the 60' but ran level either way... I know when I broke my small anti roll I thought the car was gonna roll over... it was BAD

I set mine up neutral, really has nothing to do with setting a 4 link. just another aid to keep both tires planted.I am going to put a set on my leaf spring car. no reason not to have them.
