slack off the accelerator linkage so you don't get WOT & if you need more retard the timing.

In my opinion this is why you`re 2-3 slower than you already should be. No disrespect but how much does it weigh?

For a cheap way to slow down (from 8.90s to 10.0) I
made a mech throttle stop but sliding the throttle cable
will work also.. but I wanted to run 2 classes so I
made the stop which I could put on and take off in less
than a minute... plus lower the launch RPM as well as
the shift RPM... if you HAVE a smaller carb that works
also.. it takes a lot of timing to slow them much

Thanks for the ideas looks easy to make and would probably be more consistent than just adjusting the cable

Have me drive it. That ought to slow it down at least .4.

I've used a bolt in several cars with good results to run Index. How close the bolt is placed to the carb shaft pivot point will make a large difference in the amount of bolt length necessary to slow it down. I used to slow a 10 teen car down to 11.0. Same carb's on my 9.25 car trying to hit 9.50 took a WAY longer bolt.

Moroso makes a throttle stop which is really a bolt and bracket that bolts to the rear carb bolt. I have been using a modified one for years to slow my mid 10 second car down to 11.50s and it works great. A word of advice : the original design of the bracket only uses one bolt to hold it and it can move. I bought a Jegs throttle cable bracket and drilled an additional hole in the throttle stop bracket so now there are two bolts holding it and it can`t move.

Just disconnect the secondaries, that should do it.

Disconnecting the secondaries would work, pull a few degrees of timing would work, shift early would work, restrictive air cleaner would work.....

FWIW, I successfully slowed my car from 10.7's to 12.0 last year using all of the stuff listed above...plus I launched the car in second gear.

I like the idea a bracket and bolt want to run as close to 10.0 as i can. i tried taking 6 degrees of timing out ran 9.93 tried starting in 2nd at a 1/8 mile track slowed 2 hundreds and did not pick the front wheels much i like pulling the wheels up still gives me a thrill. need new tires so it should pick some. wondering if 29.5 11.5 will fit 28 11.5 have some room but it is close to the quarter.
