Carb sugguestion? Can I run stock rockers/push rods with this cam? The heads need new valves, should I go 2.14/1.81?
- 950 HP with the small venturies - You can, but I would not. At least buy new. - Yes

Sounds like a fairly hot built. Reading Dulcichs' BB porting articles (highly recommended) iirc you're better off staying with the stock valve sizes with the "early" (915/906) heads unless you are a skilled porter with a flow bench & the "later" 452's (& 346's iirc) are a FAR better choice for larger valves/careful backyard porting. I would use the MP templates on the 906's (std valve sizes) & if using those templates on 2.14/1.81's on the later heads you'd need to cut the templates wider the amount of the valve increase. .030" wider per side (2.14-2.08= .060" & divide that in half) for the intakes for example. there's actually enough room on the template sheet to cut out the originals for 906's then trace em wider on the extra sheet space using the curved edge on each side of the template to go out wider for new patterns. EDIT I would not purchase that cam/pistons if you do not already have them (trw 2355's are very heavy). What was up with the OE rods?

don't know if it is to big for your combo, but i do have a edelbrock 800 thunder series carb with maybe 200 miles on it,worked awesome on my set-up similiar to yours, decided to put a 6 pak on,otherwise a great carb., but the one thing i didn't like was it actually "looks" small on a 440, but i do also have the street/strip holley dominator intake if you are interested pm me, good luck Darren

I would run a real 509 in that combo in a heart beat, but I would not have bought the "revised" 509. You've got a solid set up though, it will run strong if the tune up is right. You can run stock rockers but you need to measure the push rods and get the correct length pushrods to do it right.

750 Holley for the street 850 at the most even with the 2.14/1.81 valves and stock ports. Pick yourself up a nice set of Ductile adjustable rockes and your good to go.

All I can add is the SD is very low profile and the RPM is VERY tall. I dont think you'll have a problem lighting em up either way. If hood clearance will allow (a low profile air cleaner can take care of some of that) I'd probably go with the RPM & it is a dual plane square bore flange & the SD is a single plane spread bore flange

Thanks for all the help guys. This won't be a race car but I want it to run strong. I went back and fourth between the Eddy RPM and Street Dominator, figured since its a heavy car I'd use the RPM...am I loosing noticeable top end power with it? I want it to light up the tires with ease.
If it's not going to be a race car what you lose in top end power is of little consequence , you want to light up the tires that is torque down low and for that the dual plane wins.
But as mentioned you will have to deal with hood clearance issues with the RPM , to a lesser degree with the SD .
