I think you will be fine. I went 9.72 136 mph at 3000 lbs with 16X32's and a 4.88 at 7200. Keep in mind that your converter affects the finish line rpm as well. percentage of slip etc. I have since picked up a few mph in the 1/8th so Im expecting it to go 140ish and be around 7400

I run a 428Sb with a 28x10 and 4.56 gears running high 9s.Shifting at 7500 and going though the traps at 8000. The car seems like its running out of steam. I was told by my engine builder to set the car up to run 7400 out the back door. That's where is made peak hp. I think i'm going to try a set of 4.10s

Set up your gear to run thru the traps at 10% above
max HP rpm

So he should be going thru at 8100? Seems a little higher than necessary isn't it?

I don't know why guys think this is necessary. I'm not going to say there aren't engines out there that NEED high rpm but come-on now. Test your combo at the track shifting at a lower rpm and you may really be pleased with the results. I know I was and I only changed from 6800 to 6400. I was young once and I too put a few rods out thru the side of some engine blocks.

I was thinking 8000 was a lot of rpm. if I get the rpm down I think the car should go faster

There are plenty of pros that say 10% higher.. if
you dont want to.. dont... but rpm is HP.. if your
set up for it

I had mine geared for street use,but it worked great at the track to.8.75 w 3.91 and 5500 stall on 28x10.5. Hit 1/4 traps at 7000 rpm and 140mph also had 727 tf at the time.

pretty sure he is boosted, mine runs 140+ at 7000 NA, but it's a whole lot lighter
