I get conflicting info on this because people seem to know one vehicle type or the other. But someone somewhere told me the Mopar speedo gears were the same for many years. Anyway, can someone tell me if this 38 tooth Jeep speedo gear on Ebay will work in my 4 speed 68 Charger? http://m.ebay.com/itm/281119932256?nav=SEARCH&sbk=1
1968 Charger 383/2bbl/4spd (1 of 74)
1994 Dakota Sport 3.9L/AT/2WD
2003 Durango SLT 4.7L/AT/4X4
Yes, all Dodges and nothing else

The long-shaft pinion pictured is correct for a '68, hopefully the seller isn't using a generic pic and the item is actually a long-shaft pinion.
A 38 would be blue and the current P/N is 52068060.

Rather than ask if it's the actual pic I asked specifically if it will fit a 1968 Charger A833. We'll see where that gets me.

Here's my question: I have done some checking on this but please verify. Near as I can tell this gear should work in my 68 four speed Charger. But as mentioned there could be some cable trimming involved. Does that sound correcf?
And here's his answer: That is correct, its likely you will have to but thats not always the case, just look when you install it.

I just swaped a short pinion gear and housing to a long pinion/housing on my nv4500 to hook up the 85 speedo cable.
that long one should go right into the stock 4 speed housing. make sure it is clocked correctly when installed.
un-less seller has the wrong pic it is good.
