Bars leak or K&W block sealer is the best. Just make sure its the copper looking stuff and not the pellets. the pellets will clog up the system. Make sure its nice and hot before you put it in.

Prestone makes a stop leak that is nothing more than a bunch of super small carbon fiber strands that stick together around any hole that forms. I have used it as a temporary fix until I had time to fix the problem correctly. You can run it all the time and it doesn't clog up anything or cause any problems.

I used the light tan looking pellets they come like 6 to a package, i think they are partly made with crushed walnut shells, anyway they were recomended buy a few folks to stop my rather large leak of coolant out of two exh studs on a 383. They worked great i only used 4 of the six pellets, i was also told GM used these from the factory on some of their problem engines (northstar ect. )

Yep, their reman engines will have the stuff in the coolant passages. Tripped me out the first time I saw that stuff in there.

How bad of a leak, and how far are you going?
Any kind off stop leak works, but to much of it
is not good for the system. Heater core, thermo
stat, water pump will fail or plug up if you use
to much.

Open the cap one notch and bring extra water with
you. You might just make it where you are going, if it's a pin hole leak.
Then fix it without stop leak.
