I know some of you guys remember who I am and some of my posts regarding my engine. Finally going to lay some stuff to rest. In our W2 heads we do infact have
2.080" intake valves and 1.600" exhaust. They are the longer valve version. We do
need new valves they are old and shot. Another down fall is it's 3/8 stem which isn't
good for my application. Will be going to what it looks like a 11/32 valve. Next few
things to to do and find out is the head cc's, valve job, guides, and the machine work
that is needed. So yes I think the bigger 950 carb and 1 7/8 headers that most reccomended will be positive gains!

Why not 5/16 or 8mm stems?

I really didn't think of that but it's nice to also be able to use something common and easier to get unless those sizes are not a major problem to do..

What's the valve stem diameter on a Hemi? 5/16"
G3 Hemi? 8mm, IIRC.
Racers have been using 5/16 or 8mm stems to save weight on valves for 30 years or more.

NASCAR type motors are running 7mm and even I've heard of some 6mm stems, that's pretty doggone small, makes me wonder. But IMHO as long as you're replacing guides, go to a common smaller size, and that's 5/16 or 8mm.

He should look at whats available in the 2.08 size
and the length needed... some of the companies will
make certain lengths in certain sizes... I went with
the 11/32 stems on mine.... sure he might be able
to get 5/16 but at twice the price

X2 on what Mr. P said. I have heard of a old trick about taking a hemi valve and cutting it to size and putting them in W2's being that they were lighter which would be the 5/16 stem like dogdays had mentioned . But how long is a smaller stem valve like that going to last and wouldn't it break easier ? I have the standard length valve setup in my W2's after asking Mr. P some questions. Thanks again

Dudes, I don't know how much they cost. That's for you to find out.

But break? I wondered about that too, how does 500 miles with big springs at 9000 rpm sound? NASCAR. That's where they have downsized the stems to 7 and maybe even 6mm.

If G2 and G3 Hemis can run'em stock, why would they have durability problems in a Wedge?
