The box in my very early 69 was originally painted orange-I say painted because the metal clips that held the rubber seal had orange paint on them- and that was original factory work, not something done by the prior owner. By the way, there are no rivets attaching it to the hood, only screws.
That was probably done in the back room at the dealership. No Road Runners in '69 had Orange boxes and all had rivet's holding them on with screws along the sides by the vents.

I restored mine. When I bought the car it was in the trunk and was broken into several pieces and missing some small chunks but it was the original and a Hemi unit. So a lot of repairs were done and it had to be painted. Sure, it doesn't look perfect but I would say it looks very good.

I disagree. I have a Plymouth brochure that shows an orange box in one car. This is a Hemi car and it came with an air box. I bought the car in January 1970 and am sure it was unmolested. The car VIN shows a production number 000013 and the tag has a production date of 8-28, so it is possibly the first Hemi Roadrunner made, so who knows for sure what they put in it?
There were plenty of sale brochures printed that show things Chrysler never did on the assembly line. Sometimes the sales brochure would show what was planned but never actually produced. There are some '67 GTX brochures showing a Blue Air Cleaner on a 440 car but they never made them that way, they were all Black. They also produced a 71 Challenger T/A brochure but never built the car. I would like to see your brochure, can you post a copy?

The GTX is the 69 brochure is A4 silver with the orange air grabber. If you look really close, it also has a flat black latch tray in the engine bay. Pre production car, dont base details on your car from that picture ulesss you own THAT car.

Just like the 1970 Superbee pics showing a red stripe in the grill. This has led many people to duplicate but it's incorrect. Sorry, but unless you bought the car new, it can't be proven and it's extremely unlikely. Not saying it 100% couldn't have happened, just that it most likely didn't and who knows what happened to the car in the first two years of it's life.

I disagree. I have a Plymouth brochure that shows an orange box in a white car. Also,

828 would be weeks in from start of production and the VIN should start with a 1
