i just picked up a 75 5T440T for $75. first off, what were these engines used in? second, it is destined to go into my 72 D200. it had center dump exhaust manifolds on it, and they were both identical. would this have come out of say, a D/W300 or something bigger? how would i be able to tell if the motor mount brackets are correct for my 72? im going from a 318 to the 440, are the trucks like the cars in that the k-member is different for big/small blocks? or did they use the same one in all the trucks? i will post pics of the brackets and manifolds if need be. thanks!!

so how long are the mount brackets for a 2wd. the ones i have on the motor now are about 4" long, from the end that bolts to the engine to the part the mount bolts to. would it make a huge difference if i used 4wd mounts on a 2wd? sorry, this is my first small block to big block conversion. thanks!!

5 = 1975 model year T = Trenton plant 440 = big motor T = TRUCK
R.
If there's an "E" on the pad it's a cast crank engine.

I used 4x4 mounts on my 2wd, everything fit fine, no issues.

it also has a front sump pan on it. im thinking this might have been a motor home engine, as it had what was left of a mouse in the valley pan. that leads me to believe it was sitting for a while, and the owners just decided to scrap the engine rather than try to fix it. the pistons are stamped 030, so it has been rebuilt at one time. im probably going to pull it apart, clean it, rering and rebearing it, and see what happens. anything else i need to look out for? btw it does have the forged crank in it. thanks guys!!

if it has a front sump pan,it may have a windage tray like my 77 RV 440 had. I turned it around and use the tray with the rear sump pan with no fitment issues. no, you can not just turn the front sump pan around and use it...i tried that. no worky.

Summitt has the pan, pickup tube and dipstick for about a hundred bucks. I bought one, no issues.

so since it is the front sump pan, and probably out of a motorhome, will the engine mount brackets work with my 72 D200? or will i have to find different ones? how about modifying a small block one to work?
