Got my Spectra tank yesterday... got it off ebay $140 inc. shipping. Rock Auto was $167 plus $25 for shipping.
That was a bargin , when I was looking for an B body tank earlier this year Rockauto was the cheapest including the shipping , shipping for me was less than 25 but that might be because the shipping warehouse and destination were in the same state ?

Hi Ola,
You can thank a certain big mail order company for whoring out the sending unit market by making them overseas when we wouldn't sell to them at less than our cost. I don't have the finances to do another production run that would sit on the shelves for years while people bought the cheap overseas ones because mine were "too expensive", or it's just a "driver". I think my last production run was '06 or '07 and I sold the last of the e-body units in '12. The ones listed above that I still have are from that same run.
I don't know what the cost would be to make another run today. I still have my contacts, and would be glad to check. I could probably do as little as 100 units. In order to go forward they would need to have a deposit paid. I couldn't say what that amount would be pending a quote from the plant. So, if anyone is interested, please reply to this post with the quantity you would be willing to pay a deposit on. For back of the napkin math, figure that deposit at $50 each.
Thanks, Randy

Randy,
The current available fuel sending units are crAp. We all know that.
Is there a vendor that would venture to make a quality unit? I am certain that many, many people would purchase them. Would Dixie Restoration Parts consider making them?
Ola Nilsson
I picked up a 3/8 unit from you Randy at Carlisle in '12 - I think you actually said it was your last one, glad I got it...

Hey, I am working on a 340 cuda now. Would you be willing to part with your 5/16ths sending unit? I have a repop in my tank now but would be good to have an original. Thanks Charlie Maple Valley, WA

Hey Guys,
To run another batch from the original vendor would require a minimum of 100 pcs per part number. The cost will be $80 plus shipping. Shipping is inbound shipping to me, and outbound shipping to you. This is a group buy for all who want to participate, and requires an initial deposit of $40.
The balance is due upon my receipt of the units. You will have 14 days to send the balance or the units will be put up for sale, and your deposit forfeited.
The vendor will run these in between normal production runs for current cars. So, there is no guaranteed time frame for completion. Typically in the past it took about 3 months from order submission to receipt of product.
If you're interested, please email us the unit you're interested in and the quantity. Do Not send a PM. Once we reach 100 units, you will be notified that your deposit is due.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks, Randy

No, sorry. Their royalty process is too draconian for a little guy like me to navigate/pay.

Jim I'll buy 2 71 Duster 5/16 units if/when available
Scott, I really don't see the demand being there for 5/16" A-body units, but if enough people want them I'll run them.
I did make some 3/8" versions in silver cad from the original vendor as an upgrade. I have some left if you're interested. No, it's not OE correct, but if your 340 staves for fuel on the top end like so many of mine have, it might be worth considering. I offer great discounts off of Fine Lines fuel lines too, so you can upgrade everything at once.
Thanks, Randy

my wife's 67 sending unit... the gauge was not working, tracked it down to a 'faulty' sending unit... p.s. - the sending unit is '2' years old

That's not the fault of the sending unit for petes sake. You have a very rusty fuel tank and lines that need to be replaced to be sure you got all that rust out of your fuel system.
