Noticed two things watching the Nats that have me a little confused. One, why are there so many people allowed up at the starting line? Is this not dangerous?

Two, why do all the door cars pass the lights during the burn outs? Any place else I have raced, unless its a blown alcohol door car, your DQ'd if you break the beams...

thats the usual heads up crowd at the starting line

and the burnout is for show I guess, they have to get those small tires hot

A lot of times the line is crowded because there is quite a bit of money changing hands.

a race track with cars going low 4's in the 1/8th.. I almost
got run over at least 5 times with the golf carts flying around..
But it was fun!!!!! Congrats to all the winners..

In the vids from last year and this year, almost eveything was in the 4's...That's just darn fast! I have never evn been close to a 5 anything, let alone a 4s pass.

And if money is chaning hands, I would think behind the guard rail would be safer.

I believe Cecil really caters to them alot as thats where Cecil makes there bread and butter money the last few years. I actually consider Cecil my home track as I like to race there since my brother only lives a few miles from there. And since I drive to the track its a close place to tow my car if I break. But I dont go to that race as I prefer the NSS racing much better but thats because I love the 60's SS cars. Most of them use power adders and are very fast. My buddy races a Duster in the 10.0 class as its a mid 10 car NA and high 9's with a 100 shot. Ron

Starting line was the same last year.
Some(all) of the fast car are making some real power. A 526 hemi with a screw blower many not(was not) be enough for a low et at this race.
I ran my car this year in a pro tree bracket and will go back again.

We have never seen anything like that. It was truly frustrating.

I could be wrong, but I think only the turbo cars are allowed to do the long burnouts through the lights. At least, that's how it looked to me when I was watching it on the live feed. The announcer was even saying something in regards to almost every car as to what power adder they were running and that's when I think I picked up on the burnout thing.

340bird, I saw you run twice on the live feed. Your car really bounces in the back. Looks like it's loading and unloading several times.

First year I missed being set up there. I snuck my GTX for a time trial last year, Thursday night. Slowest thing at the track , I think. Greatest race in the states, if your car fit's into a class. Unreal what these guys are doing with small tires. I love it. Defbob was there with ROBR all weekend.

MY slowness..Click the pic for video. I tried racing the Zamboni, but he had 3 kits of NOS !!!

You should come to Lancaster on a Tuesday night, there is a blue mustang running 5.14s and not even making a full pass , And there was another one that couldn't make a full pass running almost as fast tonight.

Yes thats the one. This is the only pic I have of it when my brother was working on it. It has a fresh eng that he just put the first passes on it last week. Ron
