I posted this on the B-Bodies website and have received one reply so far stating the glass should be "straight", which makes sense if you'll read below. Thought I'd see if others have had this problem with reproduction glass from ECS Automotive Concepts or others:

Several years ago I bought and installed a set of date coded door & quarter glass from ECS Automotive Concepts. I have never been able to adjust the door glass so it rolled up and down without exerting a lot of force and even using two hands (one on the glass) over concern of breaking the mechanism. Several people told me everything was just tight & would loosen over time. Well, it hasn't.

I was thinking today of finally turning it over to a pro to try his hand at fixing. I noticed both door glasses have bows in them that I'd never noticed before. With the windows in the up position, you can see that the glass contour doesn't follow the straight lines of the chrome strips on the cats whiskers. Laying a straight edge on the glass just above the chrome strip you can see that the glass tucks in at the very rear by a good 3/32". That seems to be forcing the glass against the whiskers several inches ahead. The passenger glass is the worse, but both door glasses have the bow.

I'm wondering if someone with a 69 B-body with original glass might lay a straight edge along the bottom of the door glass and tell me whether it's straight or not. I sold the old glass out of my car, so have nothing to compare it to right now. I'm sure it would be highly unlikely that ECS would stand behind their product this long after purchase, but if its truly out of spec I will try anyway. The glass cost $1036 then and probably hasn't gone down since.

I have the original Glass out of a 70 Charger, the same I would guess??
Exactly where is the bow you're seeing, from front to back on the inside plane or bottom edge?

Front to back measured at the bottom of the glass with the window up. Passenger side is as reported, while on the driver's side the bow is worst at the front of the door. Looking from the outside of both doors, the glass is convex, ie bowed out, whereas the door & cat's whiskers are straight. I thought all along my problem was with adjusting the mechanism, but now it seems obvious the glass is in a bind.

Took my straight-edge and laid it along bottom-inside surface and there was virtually no arc to the glass at that point.

Hope that helps, I can see where a curved piece would cause interference.

P.S. My glass is out of the car so unrestrained.

I have the exact same issue on my 69 GTX. New glass, "it will get better over time", ... The shop that did the body work on my car installed the glass. I'll research and see if its ECS glass

The glass in my car is not flat. It bows outboard

I'm sure 68-70 glass is the same, but if you'd mind checking your 70s I'd appreciate it. I noticed the curvature continues up the glass in the horizontal plane. At the very top the glass is straight. I also assume it's straight at the very bottom, otherwise it wouldn't have fit in the channel.

I used new nylon(?) glides that fit into the back of the front wing frame. Wonder if they're contributing to the problem. Anyone have experience with them fitting too tight?

Everyone who has responded whose car has original glass confirms the door glass is straight horizontally all the way up the glass. Mine is bowed, as is the one other reproduction-glassed car. I suppose mine could have more than one problem, but step one will be to obtain properly spec'ed glass.

Funny I should come across this when I was checking the entire moparts sections instead of just parousing the resto section like I usually do just to catch up on stuff I've missed. I recently saw this thread over on forbbodiesonly a couple days ago and the pics there seem to show that it is flat. Even going as far as having an original laid over the top of the repro's they sell. I'll try to copy the pics and post here for everyone to see.
