in hughesengine instruction sheet for cam swap you line up the crank at 12 oclock with cam gear at 6 oclock, dot to dot. then rotate crank one full turn to get the cam gear dot at 12 oclock and the crank gear at 12 oclock. THEN drop the dist in with the rotor at #1 cap term setting it just a little before the rotor is lined up with cap term AND damper set at 10* BTDC. this will give a instant start up and will not be 180* out.

I've had after market timing sets that have to be degreed to have the cam installed correctly, on those you can not get the dots lined up perfectly. The cam dot will not align perfectly with the crank dot, the dot will be off a tiny bit either way, not perfect One tooth on the cam gear is right at 12 degrees retarded or advanced Degree it
i will degree it, maybe tonight if it's warm enough to play in the barn. iv never degreed a cam before but have allway's wanted to learn, so this will be the motor to learn on.
