gas caps. To make my own rubber sealing rings. I can find rubber sheeting all day long W/fiber reinforcement. Do not want fiber threads in the rubber sheeting! Not sure of the thickness, but you all know what I'm talking about.
Thanks

Contact a plastics company in your area, I believe you have TAP Plastics in your area (if they are still in business). Otherwise look up rubber suppliers in the Thomas Guides (online or at your library). Also, industrial supply companies often sell rubber matts for non slip flooring surfaces and counter tops, check with them to get proper thickness.

Out of curiosity....Would "generic" type rubber be resistant to the gasoline out there now a days?

And there is always Amazon too..

Todays fuels are hard on any rubber. Neoprene would be better suited when speaking on todays fuel, but a rubber gas cap seal doesn't get much fuel exposure so I don't think it's a huge issue, not to mention it's correct.

If small quanties and price is not a major concern, Grainger has a decent selection of rubber that may solve your problem.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

Might try restorationspecialties.com too. I've bought replacement gas caps from the local auto parts store and swapped the rubber ring to an original cap. More expensive solution, but already cut to shape.

Hey, Mike'y.
I used to drive by Capital Rubber on 19th Street,
every day on my way home, when i was working full time, in mid town Sacramento.
Dunno, give them a try.

I don't know how fuel resistant the rubber is, but in the printing world (offset printing) the press operators use a "press blanket" to cover the press rollers and absorb the pounding from production. After a certain number of impressions are run, they are replaced and not re-used. I have several blankets from the printing company that I worked at, but I have not figured out what I am going to do with them yet. If I knew how big a piece you needed, I could cut one up and mail it to you.

Find an industrial type supply house for plumbing materials. They sell rubber in sheets / rolls as gasket material between large pipe flanges. Might be able to get what you need there.

Wow! Thank you.
A hunk that would fit in a standard "Office size" envelope (4 1/8 X 9 1/2) would do very nicely. I'm thinking a single stamp would get to me OK. I can PM my address if OK with you (wish I could send you some bucks somehow for your trouble).
