If I was to purchase a set of 15 x 7's ?

5 on 5 1/2 bolt pattern wheels , etc

How large must the center of the wheel be to fit ?

If your buying aftermarket wheels they will be plenty big enough. If you are buying an older Ford wheel then the hole will be too small.

We just put a set of 96 16" pick up rims on an 86 full size and if I remember right it was right around 4.325" center we had it opened up to. We measured and it was tight enough that we used a die grinder to open it up even more. We rough measured with a tape measure and added an eighth inch. I may be off with the measurement, but for some reason that number sticks in my mind.

MOST aftermarket wheels with 5 on 5.5 lug pattern have the large center hole for the earlier 4x4s.

We dont really care about them having the smallest hub hole possible. Go ahead and measure yourself. I dont have to dig a truck out or pull a wheel but if you really feel the need

Im going to have to side with Jamie on this one.

Most, not all, of the aftermarket wheels are sized with a center hole in the 4.25 to 4.28 diameter. They size them to fit the largest diameter hub and since they are lug centric, it doesn't matter to most people.

You can find some with a smaller hub, but many of those are a specialty wheel. Like Wheel Vintiques, or Cragar S/S type of wheels, etc.

As usual, I'm late to the party ...

I measured a new rotor I have and it looks like 3.526 inches od on the hub register, and the spare wheel in the back of the truck seems to confirm that, though I cant get my gizmo down into the wheel ...

subject to correction by the gods.

It takes gasoline to interest me.
