440,I believe it's the ooposite direction inwhich the vacuum advance points? So from the top looking down it's counter clockwise?

With the dampener slit on TDC (#6 cyl on compression) the pass head is lined up to be oiled. Back the crank up (CCW) 3/4 of a turn (rotor under #8 plug wire in dist cap) the drivers head is lined up to be oiled. EDIT if you do #8 then #6 (slit on TDC) then you can back the crank up slightly to 10 BTDC (mild cam) or 15 (wild cam) & set the dist in & turn the housing till the magnet is dead even with the tooth with the rotor under #6 plug wire & that area is ready to go
