The Ramcharger that I am building will probably be driven either by one of my two granddaughters or my grandson as they will all be legal drivers by next summer and it will take me at least that long to get it ready to go with all the safety equipment that I am putting in to it. I have always enjoyed the building of my creations at least as much as the racing and with my current physical limitations (new replacement right knee) I would be a definite 1st round loser (unless I left on the 1st yellow!)

Don't lose sight of the fact there always is going to be something out there that will kill you and me, but it probably won't be tomorrow and we both have a lot of fun things to do before then, so concentrate on the good stuff you can do till then.

Ted, That news probably seems devastating right now, but trust me on this, you'll get past it and move in a different direction.
I quit racing years ago due to numerous neck and back injuries. When the Doc told me one small accident could end my walking around days, I as devastated as well. I seldom miss being in the race car these days. I'm at he track often enough tuning on customer cars that I think I actually get more enjoyment from that than I did the actual racing. In other words, It's all about the end result. Finding a good driver and having fun with your car will keep you in the sport and satisfied.

WOW Ted this is not good news at all and I know docs mean well but is driving realy gonna kill ya? I question everything myself so don`t listen to me and a few others I know are in the same boat. If that`s the case then yes on another driver and at least you can still have fun and be proud of your cool car and new driver. Best wishes to ya..............Peace!

Good points.............guess I`m a dumb ass cos years ago after several head injuries from a motorcycle accident w/no helmet, car accidents where my noggin was split open doctors told me the same thing and said bad things could come my way if I injured my head again. After my S.W.A.T. ass whoopin my vision is bad and I can`t read or be on this computer w/out glasses and my short turm memory sucks but I personally will never give up the things I love even if it kills me YOU however are smarter than me.................

Well Ted,There isn't anything that I can say that hasn't been said before, It may not be the news you wanted to hear but there comes a time in our lives that changes have to be made and I am approching that time too,,not there yet but it will happen, I have been looking for someone that can take over the driving duties for some time now and I have a couple of people in mind as I am not giving up the sport untill "the game IS over"' I also enjoy the fact of tuning and tinkering and seeing if what I did made a difference,,,,,Heck I have never seen my own car go down the track in all the years I have owned it, besides we need you around here just to keep us walking the straight and narrow line.

Sorry to hear that my dear friend. Just keep your chin up, you'll figure something out. Also how's the sweet corn patch doing this year?

Hi Ted,
sorry to hear the news, but like everyone else says stay close to the racing you can still have fun. Teaching the new driver, hanging out with friends etc, That Victory hat is still on the list so you better come to the fall Mopar bash at Cedar Falls, hope to see your car again there.

Chin up, Ted. I had to set out a year back in '93 due to health issues. It wasn't fun, but did go watch. I'm sure you will enjoy being an owner/crew chief. Good luck and God Bless.

Ted; That just plane sucks, hopefully in time the Docs will clear you. On the positive side though things could have been MUCH worse. You're still here with a Wife and Grandkids. Dave

Life ain't fair Ted, but I wish you the best as you make the best of it...

How about trading the race car for a Resto type Muscle car??? Some thing cool yet tame enough to go anywhere? Lot's ways to enjoy like; cruising, car shows, Hot Rod power Tour, and just simply turning heads.

Good luck with it all!

Sorry to hear this.

From reading your post, are they saying you can't drive at all or just can't drive the race car?

As other have said, letting someone else drive would be a good option on staying involve in racing.

It means changes to things in your life, but you're alive to decide what the changes will be.

Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

This is my first season not driving, I drove the first 2 weekends then found a young Marine with the skills but no funds to finish his rig so we gave it a go, So far this has worked out great, plus he is 100lbs lighter than me The thrill and pride is still there with more time to nail down the tune, observe, relax and enjoy. Best of luck

Very sorry Ted. I hope you can adjust and transition into a different role that allows you to keep enjoying racing......or if not racing, then some aspect of the car hobby....in some kind of capacity.

There is more to it than driving for sure.

For what it's worth, I've never driven my Barracuda, but still have a great time racing..

Just ask Al..
