The turn signal cam in my 69 GTX cracked in two. I received a new cam through ebay. The stud the cam slides on-too has retaining flanges on each end. These flanges are preventing the cam from sliding over the stud. I see no way to remove these flanges therefore I cannot install the cam. What am I missing here? How is this cam installed without damaging it?

How about a picture to see what you are dealing with. Some thing in the description is odd.

I just replaced mine for my Dart a little under a year ago and may be able to help. I just can't recollect what it all looked like. It helped me to download the factory service manual.

Looks to me like you have pushed the stud down into the switch.

That's exactly the way it was when I removed the broken cam. If you buy a new turn signal switch you get the assembly; cam and switch. There has to be a correct way to install this cam

Normally you just start the cam on the stud and pull it down using the screw that goes through it to the signal lever.
