HA! The OP is actually correct. BOTH cars used the same hood. BOTH cars had header panels that spanned from fender to fender. The front edge of the hood didn't extend to the grille on either car.
Are they exactly the same?

There is one difference, if you chose the fender mounted turn signal indicators, they were on the top of the fenders of the Dart and on the hood of the Barracuda.

The 69 Barracuda hood has hinges with round bolt holes, and sliding nut plates in the hood to allow for adjustment.
Some of the later Dart hoods have fixed nuts welded into the hood, and large square holes with rounded off corners in the hinges to allow for adjustment.
You will need the correct hinges to match with the hood.

The outer skin/stamping is the same. When the hood is closed, they look identical.

That is one of the few single parts that interchange across the A body line, from Dodge to Plymouth. For as much as they look alike, aside from this hood, no single outer body part interchanges besides this. The 67-69 and 73-76 Dart fenders also used the same outer stamping. The headlight mounting and side marker designs were the only differences. The 67-76 Valiant/Duster used the same outer stamping though, making them the longest single CAR fender design in Chrysler history. Once again, this is not accounting for the side marker design.
'67-'69 Valiant 2 doors and '67-'68 Dart 2 door sedans use the same doors. -pauly

Man I must have lost my noggin! I totally forgot about the doors on these cars! Yes, there is a wide interchange with the doors. dang... I was feeling pretty good about my skills for a moment there.

and the doors and trunk lids...duster, demon, dart sport. 70-72 and 73-76.
the only difference in the dart sport hood and 69 barracuda (other than the hinge mounting) is the crumple zone structure.
Until you try to put 75 door glass in a 73, almost every year was different. I know plenty of other differences in fenders, doors, and hoods. You guys have just scratched the surface, they may outwardly look the same, but...
