Im in the prosess of starting on a 64 savoy 2dr post and I have never had a b body this old . . what Is available new? Im thinking of converting to a 4 spd what years will fit? And how big of a tire can I get on this with out cutting? Also a front disc brake changover what do you recomend? thanks Nick

Sheet metal: 4-speed humps, floor pieces and IIRC full floors (Pass compartment). Also crank & door handles.
Interior: Some seat material, carpet, windlace & gaskets, maybe the SS-style side trim panels.
Trim: tail lamp lenses
Underhood: detailing items like decals and some seals, Maxie intake & exhaust manifolds and full exhaust.
Some items interchange '63-'65 plus less from '62. Note that the cowl, dash, roof & ft door window framing differs from the '62-'63 cars.
You'll get to know Kramer's, restorationspecialties.com, and Joe Suchy (major '64 guy).

Thats great info , can I buy any b body 4 spd or does it have to be a 63-65??

If you are going to the Nats Joe Suchy will be there in the swap meet area. He usually has repo stuff as well as some used stuff.

Here is the funny thing i had a vendeor spot at carlisle across from kramer and tried to talk to him but he was to busy so I just tried to mind my own and sell my junk. As far as joe i will ask him .

A833 was introduced for the '64s; '63s used the B-W T10 for non-Maxie cars. No Maxie 4-speeds 'til '64. You could use the T10 but the A833 would be less of a conversion. Tail housing should be B-body, which locates the shifter for an early B also. Some fab work's required on the trans crossmember, but I've used a '68-'69 trans mount in the early crossmember and it works fine.
I also updated MC & brake lines, driveshaft/U-joints & rear axle on my '63 & '64 cars. '66 speedo cable adapts later trans to early speedo. '63 - '65 clutch linkage parts appear the same to me, but both of mine were already 3/tree cars. I used a Centerforce 10.5" clutch. RB motors are tight at the early-B rt apron. Fan shroud mandatory with a BB. Early-B motor/trans sits well forward of '66-later, so fan clearance is tight even w/o a fan clutch.

64 65 used a ball and trunion drive shaft.they also used the speedo gear thats one piece and clips on the cable.My 65s still works great.66 up 4 speed you change speedo gear and cable along with slip yoke drive shaft.Disc conversion find a 73 up A body or Diplomat,Aspen etc,They have taller spindles but seem to work better.You should have the old style rear also.Axles need changed.65 to 70 B body is a direct swap or Dr Diff has a conversion kit.If its was a /6 car you need V8 K member or the conversion mounts.Rocky

275/60/15 on a 8" rim with 4 1/2 or 5 1/2 BS. I will have to measure the BS. That is the biggest I elected to go on my 64 Dodge 330. The Savoy should be close to the same.

I used the 73 to 76 a-body spindle for disc brakes on my 64 Polara. I installed a 440 in my original 383 car. I narrowed a Dana 60 and fit 15x10 American TorqueThrust with 275/r60x15 T/As. My trans was a cross breed (64 push button with 65 slip yoke extension housing). The car now lives in Chicago. Picture files are too big to show

I was checking out cars in the show feild at carlisle and found one that was not tubbed had 285/70/ 15 looked good filled the wheel well but could of been a little wider?? I might just call passion or brewers and just get a complet set up for the 4 spd instead of old stuff. Thanks Nick

SS springs require special hangers.Dont use the MP hangers.They are the wrong length.64 has a 21 inch front segment.SS are 20 inch.A member here makes the correct ones.Mancini sells them and I think he does also.Rocky

SS springs on an early B-body is a mine field! Mopar Performance never bothered to tell anyone how to do it for some odd reason. I think most people buy the B-body springs since they assume that those are the ones that fit but of course they don't. Same deal with the hangers.

Mancini has the correct parts but you'll have to do some research and measure the parts. It takes a little extra work to build an early B-body car. Some stuff fits and some doesn't.

Ditto what AndyF said; there are more differences every year '62-'65 than a casual glance shows. He helped me on ft hanger info on my '64, which is #AR0097. '62-'63 used the shorter 20" ft segments that A-bodies use. '64 (& probably '65) used the 21" front segment springs. Rear axle width differs between some model years, too. 285/70-15s on an 8x15 4.5BS wheel will rub up in the wheelhouse if you don't get the axle width right, and you gotta watch the lower ft corners of the front wheel openings if you go big/tall/wide in front or use a disc brake kit that widens the track.
A tape measure & some mock-up time will save you a lot of grief building an early-B.

This is going to be a learning experance ! So I have a set of ss springs that came of my 69 rr can I use them ? And I think we determined the front hanger will not work. Now I know why the 62 - 65 guys stick together !!!

Measure the distance between the center of the ft spring eye and the locating pin of your SS springs and post it or ask AndyF. Most all of them used the 20" ft segment. Or if you can see the #s stamped on them, it's easy to look up their length.
