Since the other post took off in another direction I posted this new one. I have a 70 runner 4 speed car. It has the switch on the clutch pedal to keep it from starting unless depressed. Shop manual shows it goes to the starter relay, however the starter relay I have is a 4 speed one with only one terminal like on a 69 4 speed. Is the 70 4speed starter relay different than a 69? Anyone have a pic of a 70 4speed starter relay all wired up? Thanks for any help.

What year did the go with the switch that prevents starting in gear?? My 68 never had it just the light to tell you when in reverse. I assume your 69 did not either and when they did they used the regular relay that has the ground that has to be grounded by the Neutral safty switch. So I'm assuming you should get a 70 and up relay (or any auto relay) and use the switch you put on the clutch to ground it.

Thanks everyone for the help. I think I will just keep the relay and not plug in the clutch switch. I think i am smart enough not to try to start a car without the clutch in.
That's my point, that's what's hard on the thrust bearing. I put the car in neutral with my left foot on the brake. Let the oil pressure come up before putting 3,000lbs on the bearing. I don't sit at a light with the car in the gear and pedal down for the same reason.
