The Indy Cylinder Head MOD MAN SB Intake

Do they make any power on a 418 stroker???

Is the single planes out performing them??

It's not a manifold you're going to make big power with, it's selling point is it's very universal and probably aimed more toward Street Rodders etc.

Can't tell you about the sb intake but at the risk of saying something nice about Indy, we put the mod man 2 4bbl intake on my buddy's 572 hemi and it was within .03 of a $3,000 Ray Barton intake. I was impressed.

Ill have some dyno figs shortly, but as its a carb inducted G3 HEMI, there wont be much to compare it to .

I can say my jetting has been a little weird compared to my M1 inducted stroker smallblock....but that could be due to the motor as much as the intake.

I think they look great and I want one but

I don't want to give up 30hp by using it instead of the W-2 Victor Jr or something like that.

if they are close in numbers I will go for it !

The Mod Man looks cool, but.........

Watched a small block dyno swap from Edelbrock single plane to the Indy Mod Man and witnessed a considerable power loss with the Mod Man.

Don't remember the exact horsepower numbers, but many watching had predicted the loss just by looking at the manifold, we were correct.

It just kinda reminded me of the old Weiand 6-2bbl DragStar manifolds from the 1950's for the big blocks.

Sure looks like WAY too much plenum and NOT nearly enough runner length combined with too much CSA. Might work good with positive manifold pressure.though. J.Rob

my experience is only with the big block version so it can only be seen in that context .
After use - dyno and track time . Plenum is too big for optimum in stock cubes,i run a stock stroke 440 .
Made the same peak power as my M1 single plane but had to jet very rich due to what appeared to be poor signal . This led to very slow 60' at the track though on the street was not apparent .I did add an insert after this , about 10% volume reduction , this helped a little plus fitted 1" 4 hole spacers this also helped . I have since fitted better flowing heads which should see an improvement , will try again at the end of the year . I know a guy on here has run a small block six pack but if I remember he also found he needed 2" 2 hole spacers which helped in power improvements .

I've dyno'd quite a few small blocks with M1, Indy single four, and mod mans. The mod man is always down on power. Its only cool for a show car/cruiser piece.

The first time I saw one "opened up", my first thought was "My 1st grader could have designed that thing...".

I'm surprised the poster above mentioned seeing how well it worked on a race Hemi, considering what IMO is an intake w/ a serious lack of emphasis on actual functionality and more on its Cool Factor.

Ran on on my Dart with a Hemi and made more power than a stock X-ram.We have a customer with a 528" hemi and he loves it for the street driveability over his single 1050 set up.Another customers has gone mid nines at 3600# with a Hemi,my Dart has run 9.75 with 10.0 CR and 12" tires.Haven't tried on on a small block. The open plemum doesn't seem to hurt it,similar to a StageV intake. It works well with Edelbrock 750s and 800s on the Hemis.

Bob - Are the applications where you've seen it work "big" (500"+) displacement engines where the large plenum is likely less of a downside than on smaller displacement combinations?

Which was better between the M1 and the Indy single?

Brad,as mentioned these were Hemis and yes they were 500",528" and 572".We would love to do a small block,416" to 472" with that combo.

FWIW and as I posted earlier..I've found the jetting to be very strange in my application.

Using an 800 cfm edelbrock thunder...my primary jetting is around .110......but my metering rod is .075 x .037.

So basically to get it lean enough at cruise, its too lean at part throttle, and if I lean out the primAries it makes the part throttle stage too lean.

Basically I need a rod that is .080 x .030!!

Im not sure if this huge gap between cruise and part throttle is down tothe intake or the motor (G3 6.1)......but its a devil to tune right with such a difference in fuel demand.

ATM I have the AF at 12.5 at WOT.....its just the primary stages that are fickle

Maybe a poor signal?
