In an ideal world, how tight are these?Going to try and fix this one here (see other post)in the car, pioneer supposed to compress the right amount upon install, but we will be checking carefully.
Do you all use a cam button of any sort to help the BB stop the fore and aft motion?Chain looks and feels like new, so back it goes.
Thanks,
Bear

You want it to where the shaft just turns nice & free in the bushing. I've never used a cam button in the front & dont know if it's needed just with roller lifters or not. I figure the normal rotation pushes the cam rearward (on a BB). Here's a BTT for ya Bear

Thanks, Rapid-O!
Good to have you weigh in,been missing your sage advice!
#1 cam bearing looks a little sketchy, may be changing that one alone (HaHa)
We shall see when the new bushing arrives from Whamazon,a little over 4 bucks for the part, 8 bucks for freight. So much for the land of palm trees and hula girls...:-)
Still would like a clearance # in thousandths to satisfy my telescope machinist Mr.Evans who was brought in as insultant.(Amazing what 2 shots of tekillya will get you...)
Thanks,
Bear

Actually there is a reamer to size them.Like said it should slide in easy and spin freely without slop.As for a cam button no way.Only with a roller or gear drive. The oil pump drive keeps the cam in place.Cam bearings unless really bad leave them alone. The ones my kids truck had looked terrible. But the journals on the cam and oil pressure were perfect.Rocky

I use a stock BB oil pump drive to install the new bushings, I put the new bushing on the shaft up near the gear with a little oil inside the bushing to hold it onto the shaft and put both of them in the block, get the bushing square to the hole( look through the slot behind and above the cam gear and use a long brass drift or something else soft like a wooden hammer handle to drive the gear with the bushing into the hole Works good, last a long time I also use a small mill file to file a small groove across the tops of the Pioneer bushings, if they don't have them already . The stock Mopar ones have a groove across both sides around .045 wide and similar depth to oil the top of the bushing and the bottom of the gear

This IS true, Larry...I am coming your way , that would be convenient, could just throw them out the window of the rent a wreck as I pass by on the way to the poo plant

or maybe send one to Rapid, and bring one to you, and you guys could combine forces like Shazam or the power twins or something
That's one of the benefits of getting up there I am really looking forward to, more like-minded lunatics!
