I was at a buddy's shop and he had a 727 brought to him that had a broken aftermarket sprag(not sure the model) but the case was trashed the sprag broke though the bolt holes ,the factory direct drum didn't come apart and the VB had NO LBA. Maybe LBA would have saved his nice sprag? I'm not suggesting we all go back to stock stuff.

The broken aftermarket stock sprag was more than likely a stock sprag with a bolt in outer race (waste of time and money) , but even if it was the high dollar sprag someone did something really wrong , or put it behind a pro mod motor , to rip the outer race from the case ... or slammed it into reverse while going forward at 50mph ... DAMHIK

Nope,it wasn't a factory bolt in unit. Nope it was only a mid 10 second B body and nope it broke the 8 3/4 rear on launch.

For those asking.... Motor is a near stock 360 mild build. 224/218@.050" / .500" cam, 9.2:1, home mild ported iron heads, e85, and a 75mm turbo @13psi & 21deg of timing.

It's a joke what boost can do. Lol

Trans feels real good. Only issue is that it feels like 1/2 shift overlaps a little. Don't know if it's the kevlar band, or if I need to loosen it a bit.

We'll see tomorrow... I'll let you guys know the results.

you run 10.70 in a 3700lb car with a 2.76 gear? I HAVE GOT TO HEAR ABOUT THE MOTOR!

GOT TO HEAR about how you get a 62 Plymouth with an A-engine to weigh 3700 lbs !!

If you were whaling on it from a standstill in Drive, you could still do that damage. LBA only works in manual Low.

Kevin

It's a full manual valve body. I don't have "drive".

Broke with the lba applied.

Had a "Duh" moment.... Saw all the clues like Tranzact... Transbrake...

My comment was more to point out to some that might not know, that a full auto trans doesn't apply the band in Drive and that a full tilt launch in Drive could cause a disaster.

Can't wait to see what the 3.23's do for it. I love a form follows function build.

Kevin

Lol...now that's funny. Well...I guess it just all adds up.... steel wheels, full bench seat interior, mild steel roll bar, 2" x 3" x .125" sub frame connectors, good sized turbo, exhaust manifolds, full 5" into 4" exhaust to the bumper, iron heads, filled block...

You could also use brass impregnated carbon fiber flex band from raptor transmissions. It can take huge amount of abuse. It needs adjustment every 100runs or so but its cheaper. Only 39$.

I used it on 727 which had lots of 2-3 overlap. So much that it finally after 50 runs broke HD band strut. Band left few burn marks to the drum but was still in good shape and ready for use.

I also use it behind my 9300rpm R5P7 engine.

I believe it. Turbo cars can get heavy with all the added stuff, especially if you don't offset it by removing anything or trying to lighten it. My 70 Challenger street car weighs 4,000 lbs due to all the added weight from turbo crap and stuff: 106mm, two wastegates, two blow-off valves, crossover pipe and merge, 5-inch downpipe and exhaust system, bunch of v-bands, 4-inch tubing, lines, 8.50 cage, interior, gv overdrive, methanol injection system with tank pump lines, fire system, fire extinguisher, oil cooler, two trans coolers plus fan, electronics, 15 gauges and all the wiring, heavy wheels, 6-piston calipers 14-inch rotors on all four corners, caltrac bars, 28 gallon fuel cell, blah blah blah. I have not done anything to lighten it, only added stuff. Still has power windows! Yeah it all adds up.
