I need to order a helmet and was wandering how well the system worked as far as measuring your head????
I seen on the jegs website it said to measure 1 inch bove your eyes to the largest diameter of your head.

Do they size about right doing that??????

Dont even know if the car is going to be fast enuff to need one

Do you prefer open or closed face and why???????

I hope the car runs deep into the 11's maybe high 10's. Who knows

Mine fit perfect measuring that way. I prefer open cause I can see a little better.

An open is more comfortable, but a closed is a whole lot safer for the reason one wears a helmet in the first place.

Regarding size, IMO, just make sure the seller will allow you to exchange if the fit is not what you expect, and closed is a little more difficult to get right, or buy from a vendor at the track.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

If at all possible, test-fit whatever helmet you're interested in; you want to be sure it can't rotate on your head, and that your ears are comfortable, and if you wear glasses, that you can get them on & off.
Personally, I prefer closed; keeps the old mug safe. You don't have to use the clear shield, and I don't in the car. I removed mine but put it back on for motorcycle use.

I tried a G-force full face and hated it. I wear glasses and unless I tilted it way down it would lift the glasses up. Also if you have any low mounted gauges, you will either have to tilt your head down to see them or mount them higher w/ a full face.

I bought a Racequip open face and love it. It was better quality.

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

I have used Bell open faced helmets since 1985. Always bought the same size with good results until this year. I bought a new Bell open faced helmet and it was so tight that I couldn't open my mouth with it on. Ended up getting the next size bigger. It fits better, but not good. and the strap is too long. Bell says that they increased the padding in the check area for some reason. May be wearing a differnt brand before long.

Is there a speed cut off for open face helmets?
