Had 4 cams from 4 different places of business spec a new solid roller cam for my 408. lunati, hughes engines, bullet and brian from this forum.
408 specs,indy intake,indy heads 360-1 228cc in. port flow 239/154@.400 and 328/209@.700,11.3:1 comp,1 7/8 tti,727,5400 8" stall,4.10,28" tire,3300 race weight. heads have a lazy ex.port with 64% in. to ex. flow.
here are the cams spec'ed
259/263-107lsa
262/270-108
260/270-105
259/269-106
all cams carry my current lifts(.712/.688).
trying to match up a cam better to my comp. ratio and maybe improve my 60', so which cam would you pick? thanks

with a 4" stroke and a lite exhaust port, I would go with the 262/270-108, installed around 105, giving a bit later Intake closing of 56 for the stroke and a moderate amount of overlap at 50 to assist the exhaust.

Whichever one Tim told you,

.050 ain't the whole story, .200 up lifts especially on a roller

It would help if we knew car weight, conveter stall and rear end gears. The wrong combo could make it dog out of the hole or drop off before the lights

Misc. questions / comments:
1. At what RPM do you want to shift it and how high are you expecting it will turn through the traps?

2. Don't get hung up on the intake / exhaust % #s.

3. I'm not a small-block person, but think the 259/263-107 would have have good mid-range and decent top-end. However, with your compression that one might be better on a 106 LSA, too.

4. Which one did Brian H. spec? I know he's got a good bit of small-block experience.

Which lobes did Tim spec? Bullet has a lot of different ramps for those durations, I think I know what he would have chosen cause my 414 is similar to yours and the cam I got now (old cam motion IROC grind) doesn't have enough lift for my new heads, so I'm thinking I might have Tim I regrind the Bullet I want for me on a smaller Base Circle

Just remember the smaller you go on base circle, the less stable the lobe at rpm AND the less hardness you'll have left on a regrind...

Tim spec'ed the 259/269-106 and this is the cam I'm liking.

By air speed do you mean velocity?no cam company has ever ask for that before, but I think I can find that on Wallace racing and let ya know.

Tim told me my current cam was hurting me. It had their 2nd fastest lobe on the intake and a much slower lobe on the exhaust. What I'm trying to accomplish is increased cylinder pressure and better scavenging.

your also 64% on your intake vs exhaust flow they gave you an 11* split. whats your lsa?
I like both the hughes engines spec and the bullet spec.

lunati 259/263-107

For your car weight and gearing I would personally go with Brian's262/270, bit I would use a 106 lsa.
