Low cost? A set of used slicks...

I`m in the same boat.............took a bunch of wt. out and now hookin`s a problem plus even though my tires only had 10-12 passes on em they were 14+ months of street drivin and sittin on concrete old. Had I borrowed my buddys good slicks my et`s would of dropped for sure............live and learn. I`d try the suggested used slicks myself..............

What have you tried for different settings... have
you tried moving the caltracs to the upper hole,..
you might need to hit the tire harder to plant it...
then you might need to soften the extension on the
shocks... how easy is it to move the front end and
how far does it move on the front... your gonna need
all you can get for front end lift with that engine
in a big heavy car thats nose heavy
EDIT
The best thing you can do is video the launch so you
KNOW what the facts are

And if you do put slicks on...Make sure you have a driveshaft loop...

MR P With a floorjack it comes up 4in.before the tires start to come off the floor. Its fairly easy to lift up at bumper, its got 90/10s,do you mean with shocks disconnected? no I haven't tried top hole,i thought that would make the tire spin worse.....my best has been 13.03@103 1.80 sixty.Bill

You could use 1" or more of lift which would mean
another shock or use a shock extension... see if your
shock is limiting the travel... you might want to
cut the upper arm bumper down also

I used the M/T ET Streets(13.50x30x15), ET Street Radials(315x60x15) and the M/T ET drag slicks(31x105.x15W), the ET Street work better on a bad track than the ET Street Radails did, the slicks worked the best BTW, the radails are faster than the ET Street bias plys on a good track, not so on the street or on a fair to bad track. I'm suprised that yours hooked with your foot at WOT Mine would go sideways unless I lifted or shifted into 2nd gear as soon as it started to spin, even then I needed to lift a little while shifting it into 2nd gear IHTHs

When you raise the body you reduce the travel... you
could use the gear.. a 318 isnt gonna make much torque
so the gear will help that also

Plug your numbers in one of these calculators...
http://www.wallaceracing.com/Calculators.htm
yes I would say 53/47 is nose heavy.. be glad its
not a BB or it would be worse

Mike....I have tried to use that calculator many times before and it never cam out right. been playing it just now realized you need to adjust for converter slip.

Yeah you have to figure conv slippage for the top
end rpm... as a rule I use 7% but if you know yours
just add that in

I run the same width MT tire(275/50) and I couldn't make mine spin if I wanted to. My 60 is kind of soft at a best of 1.62 but its done that same 60 at 5 different tracks. It doesn't seem to care how much air pressure either, I have run from 14-18psi with no troubles. Your sure your front suspension moves freely?

I have the rms uppers and strut rods. It's easier to move the whole assembly through its travel than it is to move just the stock uca with poly bushings.

I agree with MR. P, go over the front suspension and see if you can get more lift out of it. Make sure nothing is binding up ( i hear poly bushings can tighten up travel). What torsion bars are in the car? A lighter bar will allow for more lift (more stored energy) You shouldn't have any problem getting it to hook on the 275/60's assuming you're on a prepped track.

My Dart runs 11.20's with a soft (1.60) 60' and hooks up on 275/60 ET street radials just fine with a stock suspension except for SS springs ( no 90/10 fronts or anything) It's 53/47 also.
