On replacement auto parts store shoes
Wanted to share my 70 Coronet rear brake 8 3/4 10 2 1/2 experience .I ran into this problem before years ago .Got the NB333 Advance auto rear shoes. It got me again .The replacement shoes stamp out a hole .And cant use your original spring .Had to use a 7249 spring kit for a 79 Diplomat which uses same brakes

The hole that the emergency brake lever uses is enlarged .Why? didnt create a problem for the emergency brake horseshoe clip. But the original short primary spring wont work on that hole as its enlarged. You need either 1 extra pink secondary spring perside and use the hole below the enlarged one .Or all 4 yellow springs 2 perside in the 7249 kit

I wrote that # down for reference. Your post jogged my memory that there was a change in that hole in 76 & iirc either the later 76 up shoes would fit prior to that or earlier shoes would only fit to 76 or?. In any case I'll be aware of it if I am faced with that situation. Thanks for the info

These 78 79 type shoes are what I got .When ordering the 1970 shoes. This is what you get for the parts store looked up and verified the NB333 number. look and the hole to the right of the anchor point. No longer a round hole for the spring http://www.1aauto.com/1A/BrakeShoes/Dodg...CFYyi4Aodwl0A3Q
