#1. Since you didn't take it appart, are you 100% sure that you have the correct 340 engine mounts? #2. Are you sure the mounts are on the correct sides of the engine and attached in the correct location (front or rear of the engine bosses, etc. as Joe asked) #3. The drive shaft will have some slop in it due to the input shaft slip allowance and can be decieving, I'd leave it out until the engine and trans are installed properly #4. Have another look at the trans mount to be sure it's installed correctly #5. I'd bolt the trans and engine together, be sure the converter is installed all the way in, bolt it all up, and install it as a unit (even if it's a PIA).

I have seen done by many installing it in the wrong position, causing the mounting holes to the trans to not line up. Just a suggestion for you to look at. The K menber as well as the trans cross memeber are engineered in from the factory, so it has to be a bracket incorrect issue only.
