I'm just putting the wraps on re-building my 383 and am wanting to replace the old fuel pump while it's easily accessible.Should I go with a high volume fuel pump or find one similar to the stock item? It's a mild build...400-425 hp when it's all together, nothing too much...opinions would be great

Go with the big pump, it will save you a lot of headaches if the stock pump is inadequate and causes the carb to go lean. Tim

go to Autozone (or like) and ask for a pump for a 69 440 6 pack. It will be more than enough.

the first one in the pic. No need to have to deal with psi regulation if you dont have to & you can easily upgrade later if the volume is inadequate but I ran a stock parts house "airtex" with 5/16" lines on the stock car (SB) & at WOT at 6200 RPM there was no delivery issue

i have a pump like the first on my 472, daul 4's. i have never had any starvation problems that i know of.

mancini also has a hemi type carter pump calibrated for the correct psi needed for carter carbs. have one of those on my new engine.

but i would just go with the one you have.
