I need to remove some wires that attach to the fire-wall connector in a 69 GTX. The wires connect to the aft side of the connector (from the under dash wire harness) There is a special tool for this; an extraction tool. Does anyone know the correct extraction tool for this application? And where I can get one? Thanks

I replaced the bulkhead in my 68 GTX back in the mid 80's with out a special tool. Its been too long ago, ...but I think I used a very, very small flat screw driver from the engine side of the bulkhead connector to release the little finger that holds them in once they're pushed in.

As said, put a small screwdriver or thin set of pliers in from the engine side, squeeze the finger and pull the cable at the same time and it will come straight out. When you refit, just pull the finger on the spade out a little and it will lock in when pushed home.

A small pick will work. Then before inserting the connector back make sure the little tang is raised so it will catch and lock.

mini eyeglass screwdriver for the female ones & a small screwdriver to press the open leg of the male one in the pic slightly toward the other leg. When installed it's hard to tell which one is the open leg so press both & the one that moves is the open leg. When you have em depressed the right amount the terminal/wire will EASILY pull out the back side & if it wont you need more work especially on the female ones. Want that locking tab flat. dont force anything which will just end up damaging the bulkhead

NAPA 725145-female. 725147- male. Premium brass terminals (Packard 56 type I believe). Pricey but that is a problem area that needs to be dealt with. Crimp & solder them onto the wires. EDIT On the female ones raise up the tab from flush so it will snap into place & lock it like a fishhook barb when you pull the pigtail assy into place. & before you install them check each & every one of the female ones by inserting a male one to check that the curved ears are bent just right & there's the right amount of tension for good contact but not too easy not too tight because when you are pressing the 2 bulkhead halves together is not the time to have male/female interface fitment issues when the brass terminals are already installed.
