Could anyone tell me how many degrees of mechanical advance there is, in a factory 340 auto & manual trans distributor for 1970? Thanks.

It should be in the back of the "Electical Section", under "Distributor Specs".

It says 8 - 10 distributor degrees, which would be a total of 16 - 20 crank degrees.

it says 8-10 at 850 rpm. thats not total timing. theres no way the stock dist is fully advanced at 850 rpm- full advance on those is probably closer to 3000 rpm (if not more)

see if you can see the base of the point cam inside the dist , it will have a number on it , that is the total mech. adv ... x2 ....

That is distributor RPM, which would be 1700 crank RPM.
