I recently bought a Mikes Powerglide Monster Glide with a Contintental 9 inch race converter,I don't have any real world expereince with them, how often do you guys change the fluids and which type flids do you like? BTW, the car weighs around 2500 lbs wet and the motor makes 687 HP, 5.13 gears in the rear with 17x33x15 tires that are right at 104 inches circumference Thanks in advance

Cab, I use straight type F. Lately it's been Valvoline or Carquest. The local Carquest guys tell me their brand is made by Valvoline to exactly the same specs. I used to get a couple seasons but now with the bigger motor and high stall it can be a lot less. The more you stand on the converter, the less life you'll see. Of course you already know that. If I'm mostly bracket racing I tame it down on the line and the fluid lives a long time. I'f I'm mostly SG racing the fluid gets nasty a LOT faster. I put on a big B&M Super Cooler with a 10", 1000 cfm fan, I think early last year, and it made a huge difference. With my smaller cooler and no fan, in SG trim I was getting 4 passes!

Walmart store brand. Don't see any difference in wear, heat, or performance.
If I was happy with the converter and saw no need to make a change for a while I might go with something better. But, when constantly changing gearsets or converters trying to find some more ET just could not justify paying twice as much.

If it were me, I'd just bring it to my closest Chevy dealer and let them deal with it. I think I can find a discount coupon for ya. All ya gotta do is pay postage and it's yours. Sorry....I just had to.

I don't run cheap oil in my engines or transmissions,a lot of Hi $$$ parts in both and after spending all that $$$ don't want to ruin or shorten the life of them by trying to save a couple of $$$ on the oil/fluid.But I see a lot of people who do use the el-cheap-o oil/fluid and save $$$ and say it works just as well.Money saved on oil/fluid means more $$$ to put some where else on the car.So I'm not saying which is "RIGHT" or which is "WRONG" just wondering which method/way is the best.
