thanks. i looked at mancini, and they have theirs listed for $269 or something. that seemed a bit outrageous, so i thought i would ask around.

should have thought to check ebay first.

thanks...

Just a suggestion, Milodon makes a repo Hemi pan, it's a little nicer than most, the dies are crisp so the metal is straighter, & the baffles are tig welded... painted very few would know it wasn't a Mopar pan....

How well do these 6 qt pans work with a 600hp street/strip engine(low deck stroker)?
Just looking for extra ground clearance.

I don't think the oil pan cares how much hp your engine creates. Same as a stock hemi pan.

Many guys run them without issue but if you run a 1/2" pickup & spend to long above 6K you might want look further... Another good choice for a strip pan is Milodon's road race pan...

Only a C note. I have one, not a bad unit at all. Fits the 500" perfectly.

I bought a original Mopar 1970-71 440 6 pak oil pan from Mopar for my 727 HP 518 C.I. low deck stroker motor in my Duster( I did have to trim the back edge of the K member and I had the motor back around a inch from stock on the tranny cross member), it worked very well as long as I kept the oil level above the add mark at the track I let it get down to the add mark one weekend, it would lose some oil pressure, not go to zero, when I let off at the other end at 128 MPH. Put a quart in and it never varied after that I now buy the Summit brand clone of that oil pan

Probally not I use the Mopar chrome one and cut the tube down to calibrate the dipstick, make sure the motor is level and run the motor first, drain the oil out of it and fill the pan up with 5 quarts, cut the dipstick tube down, a little at a time, until the oil dipstrick shows one quart low, stop cutting there an add one quart, you should be golden then BTW, I use a tubing cutter with a stock SB hydraulic pushrod inserted in the tube to avoid crimping the tube down while trimming it

the reproduction hemi dipstick is accurate. i use it.

had to bend it to fit the TTI headers, but they give you a good diagram. didn't take me long. it's bigger than 3/16" though, so a 3/16" tubing bender doesn't work too well. i ended up heating mine with a propane torch, much easier!

Why can't you start with 6 quarts, measure how far off the oil level is off the full mark on the dipstick and cut that much off the tube?

And here's my last ordeal using the MP chrome dipstick assy with the 6 qt pan... The tube's too short !!! ...Yep, 4 1/2 qts it reads full...So you would actually need to shorten the stick{?}not the tube for the correct reading...And I did'nt do it{yet} I just deal with it...
Which brings us to the next step....
Here's what I've come up with so far so if it's wrong please feel free to add too/correct whatever info/assumptions are'nt correct...

The supposed NOS mopar original 70-71 BB for B and E body{fits all BB except hemi} tube part# 3462415 is listed as 17 5/8 long...How much of that is below the block seating ridge I don't know...
The matching mopar dipstick for that tube, part# 3698500 is 27 3/8 long...So this would lead me to believe the oil level is ending up the same height{relative to the block} wether you're using the standard or 6 qt pan...

I don't have the set or I'd assemble them and come up with a measurement from the block seating ridge to the full/add marks on the stick to take the guesswork out of this mess for future reference..

And incidently the chrome mp stick tube is 23 inches long and at first glance at the numbers would indicate it being WAY off...But supposedly the shorter chrome tube/stick assembly was a matched set to maintain the same oil level markings which obviously is'nt the case be it poor quality control or whatever...

Right now in 2013 that NOS dipstick/tube is worth 50-100 bucks or more if the guy that has it dipped it in gold for some reason so it does'nt make sense to buy one just to bend it up if you've got headers which leaves everyone needing something accurate no matter how you call it...
I have'nt tried the hemi stick so I can't comment on that one..
OK I'm out of breath..

And marked it correctly according to proper oil levels...

Looks good..
But...
Before installing double check the quality of the welds closely as these pans have been known to leak due to cracks in the welded seam.

Just my $0.02...

The new chrome Mopar ones for the wedge motors I have bought and used show way to much oil on the dip stick with 6 quarts in the pan before starting a new motor up You got me thinking I did have amotor that had a older mopar chrome dipstick and tube in it and it did show over full with only 2.5 quarts in the sump I took a car in trade that had a 383 motor in it with a Cardoba oil pan on a early 383 motor, it ended up spinning a rod bearing due to not enough oil in it. I beleive the dipstick and hadn't change the oil and filter in it so I didn't know how bad it was mess up on the oil level Another hard , expensive, lesson
